SISTA SPEAK On Friday 24th November the girls involved in Sista Speak were happy to have their Mothers, Grandmothers and Aunties join them in the school library as they listened and learned about Australian bush tucker presented by Mrs Patterson. Mrs Patterson shared her knowledge and wisdom about bush plants and fruits. The students and their families were then given the opportunity to taste test some bush jams and smell and feel some plants in their raw state. The jams and scones were donated and made by one of our own Newcastle Aboriginal community members Jodie Stewart. Thank you to all who were able to attend the afternoon and to Mrs Eacott, Jodie Stewart and Mrs Patterson! Miss Naden

PAYING IT FORWARD ~ LENDING A HELPFUL HAND

We are teaching alongside the leaders of the future. As such, we are lending a hand to our local community members, who may not be as fortunate as us. We have a nearly-full Red Box as a collection point for those small bottles/containers of soaps (hard/liquid), shampoos, conditioners, lotions, sewing kits, hygiene items and shoe shines that many people collect during stays at hotels, motels and resort. Help us help others!

MINISTERS SPEECHES

Today we had our Ministers nominee speeches. We wish all 31 of the students the best of luck. They all did a brilliant job and we would be lucky to have any one of them as a leading representative of our school. Votes will be tallied and our 2018 Ministers announced on Presentation Day.

ENROLMENTS IN 2018

If your children won’t be returning to Glendore Public School in 2018, please let the office know as soon as possible. This information is very important as it will allow us to better plan 2018 class structures. K-2 HOME READING AND MATHS AT HOME GAMES

A huge thank you to all our volunteers this year who have assisted in running our K-2 Home Reading and Maths at Home Games Programs. Without your support, we would not be able to offer these programs to the students and their families. K-2 Home Reading and Maths at Home Games Programs have now FINISHED for 2017. Please return all school resources to the classroom by Friday, 1st December. Notes will go home next week to students with outstanding items. Please consider becoming a volunteer in 2018, so we can continue to offer these programs to our school community. With thanks, Mrs Budd

SCHOOL BANKING

Thank you for a great year of School Banking. We would like to thank all of our students who have participated in the CommBank School Banking program this year. School Banking has finalised for this year and recommence in 2018.
