We will be saying a fond farewell to the exceptional Mrs Chandler, from 3-6C. After 7 years at Engadine Public School Mrs Chandler has been offered a wonderful opportunity to further her career in Special Education; she will be taking up a position at Port Hacking High School (PHHS) in their new Autism support classes. Mrs Chandler will be sadly missed by the students, staff and community of Engadine Public School but we wish her well on her educational journey and know that she will bring a depth of experience, skills and knowledge to the PHHS community. Ms Teresa Barrett will be assuming the role of full time classroom teacher for 3-6C until such time as the position is filled through staffing procedures. Ms Barrett has a wealth of special education experience and we warmly welcome her into our learning community. This week we have also received the formal retirement notice from one of our longest serving staff members – Ms Jane Yong, our substantive School Counsellor. Jane has been on extended leave for some time leading up to her official retirement and her position has been admirably filled in a temporary capacity by Donna Roberts. So this week we thank Jane for her outstanding contribution to Public Education and more particularly to the Engadine Public School community. We would also like to acknowledge the contribution of Donna Roberts who has built strong and meaningful rapport with our students and families and has worked collaboratively with our Learning and Support Team across the school. We wish them both well for their futures; whether it be a life of retirement fun and grandchildren or a life of further service to students and families within the Department of Education. The School Counsellor position has been filled by Alison Rowe, a registered psychologist with plenty of school experience. We welcome her to Engadine Public School and look forward to working with her. Our final week of Term One is shaping up to be a busy one; with P&C Mufti Day and Easter egg donation day on Monday, the Primary Cross Country on Wednesday and the Easter Hat Parade and Easter diorama display on Thursday. Keep Calm and Hang On – we’re almost on holidays!! Until next week – have a great weekend and keep smiling. Sara Swift, Principal

Stage Three Excursion Our year 5 and 6 students went on their excursion to Garie Beach and Bola Creek on Tuesday – here is a recount about the day from James in year 5. Diamond Pythons in the toilets, giant earthworms and leeches sucking Mrs Danne's blood were all part of the excitement on our Stage Three rainforest excursion. On Tuesday the 2nd of April, Stage 3 visited Garie Beach and the Bola Creek Rainforest on a ‘Ranger Jamie’ excursion. We went to Garie Beach first and the Ranger Jamie ‘instructors taught us all about some of the animals that lived on the beach and the forest/and rainforest around it. The instructors then took us onto the beach and we learnt about the effects that a fire can have on the natural environment. Stage Three then hopped back onto the bus and drove ten minutes to the Bola Creek Rainforest. We were split into groups to participate three activities. One of the activities was a bush walk further into the rainforest; learning about all of the plants and trees. We then raced back to the meeting place. Our second activity was bug catching. Stage Three caught a great range of bugs in two areas. Some people even caught leeches and giant Earthworms! The third activity was net fishing. Once again students caught a great range of insects + bugs in the creek. We then boarded the bus and returned to school with tired legs and a full brain! By James Y

Once you have formed your committee, please contact Amanda Yock ([email protected]) to advise her of who the contact person is and she will give you further information regarding the stalls allocated. We are also looking for people to work together on PR and Marketing for the fete as well as someone to coordinate the entertainment for the day and for someone to book the rides. This is our major fundraiser for the year and we need everyone to come together to help make this a success.
