Golf is such a global game these days and there are many beautiful golfing destinations in Europe and throughout the world.Below are 3 that are my particular favorites.

Portugal LisbonA city with great food, great surfing and truly fantastic golf courses. Golf can be played 365 days of the year and is perfect for a winter get away.The two courses I have chosen are very different, Penha Longa is a undulating golf course that meanders its way through some great forest and offers some great views. The staff is always welcoming and the course is always in great condition. www.penhalonga.com

Oitavos Dunes is a links style course on the ocean that provides you with some amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. Both courses have previously hosted the Portuguese Open on the European tour. www.oitavosdunes.com

The best place to stay for sure would be Senhora da Guia boutique hotel in the town of Cascais. The hotel looks over the Atlantic ocean, is 2 minutes from Oitavios Dunes and 15 minutes from Penha Longa. The hotel offers an extremely warm welcome, intimate family style service and the seafood in the restaurant is the best in the area. www.senhoradaguia.com

Spain MálagaUndoubtedly the mecca for golf in Spain is in Marbella, you fly to Málaga and you have 120 courses to choose from. The weather is always fantastic and the quality of the courses are generally very good but one place in my opinion stands out as the ultimate destination in Marbella and that is Villa Padierna Palace Hotel and Golf facilityThe hotel is truly fantastic, has a great location and has 3 very interesting golf courses not to mention the new Michael Campbell Golf Academy. www.villapadiernapalacehotel.com

France ParisIn the past 10 years golf in France has truly grown with the creation of some truly great courses and also some great young players coming through the professional

ranks. The obvious choice for a great golfing destination is Paris and Le Golf National. Le Golf National has two wonderful courses, is the host of the French Open and will host the Ryder Cup in 2018. There is an onsite hotel offering you all the amenities you would expect from a five star facility. www.golf-national.com

Le golf se popularise de plus en plus et on compte de nombreux parcours idylliques en Europe et à travers le monde. 

Voici le trio de tête dans ma liste de favoris: 

Portugal Lisbonne Un paradis pour les surfeurs qui offre aussi une cuisine formidable, et bien évidemment de fantastiques terrains de golf. La météo permet de

jouer toute l'année ce qui fait de Lisbonne une destination idéale pour une escapade hivernale.

Sur place, mon choix se porte sur deux parcours

très différents; Penha Longa est un parcours vallonné qui serpente à travers une grande forêt et offre des vues imprenables. Le personnel est toujours accueillant et le maintien des lieux est toujours irréprochable. www.penhalonga.com 

Oitavos Dunes est un parcours de style Links qui s'étend sur l'océan Atlantique.

l'ensemble, mais le Villa Padierna Palace Hôtel & Golf sort du lot et s'impose comme la meilleure destination golf. L'hôtel est vraiment fantastique, extrêmement bien situé et dispose de 3 terrains de golf très intéressants, sans parler de la nouvelle académie de golf de Michael Campbell.

For the 2015 edition of Art Basel's show in Miami Beach,

Nicholas Baume, Director and Chief Curator of Public Art Fund, returns for his third year curating the show’s Public sector. Under the theme ‘Metaforms’, 27 large-scale and site-specific installations and performances by leading and emerging artists from over 11 countries will turn Miami Beach’s Collins Park into an outdoor exhibition space. Produced in collaboration with the Bass Museum of Art for the fifth consecutive year, the sector will include significant works by Olaf Breuning, James Capper, Tony Cragg, Melvin Edwards, Sam Falls, Sylvie Fleury, Katharina Grosse, Matt Johnson, Jacob Kassay, Kris Martin, Rubén Ortiz Torres, Athena Papadopoulos, Ishmael Randall-Weeks, Sterling Ruby, Michael Sailstorfer, Tomás Saraceno, Tony Tasset, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Francisco Ugarte, Timm Ulrichs, Marianne Vitale, Ursula von Rydingsvard, Hank Willis Thomas, Robert Wilson, Yan Xing and Xiao Yu.

Athens Perhaps the best thing about Europe's oldest city is that

almost everything you'll want to do is within walking distance. Cars have long since been banished, and a lot of the streets in central Athens are pedestrianised, which means the quickest and best way to get around this city often is on foot. Ermou Street, just off Syntagma Square, is Athens' main shopping street and a great place to start. At 1.5km, it's long but mostly pedestrianised and there are cafés and places to rest. On the main street, you'll find big names brands such as Sephora, Hondos Center and Marks & Spencer. As you wander, look out for Folli Follie where you can pick up fashionable watches, bijoux jewellery, shawls, leather bags and accessories. The side streets leading off Ermou Street are worth exploring too as they're lined with local businesses, some selling strings of freshwater pearls and loose semi-precious stones at bargain prices. For luxury brands, you should head to Luisa World and Enny di Monaco in Athens' Kolonaki quarter close to the National Gardens, a beautiful 15.5-hectare public park. The streets of Tsakalof and Voukourestiou are among Athens' most prestigious retail addresses and it's here you'll encounter some of fashion’s biggest names;  Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, Zadig & Voltaire, Ferragamo, Prada and Ralph Lauren. Barcelona There are many reasons to visit Catalonia’s capital: Gaudi’s glorious architecture; the history, the food, the culture. Barcelona is also Spain’s shopping capital, with a fabulous mix of fashion, design and crafts. Each district has its own character and shops to match, but undeniably your first destination should be the Passeig de Gràcia, which cuts through the heart of Barcelona, running from Plaza de Catalunya to just beyond Avenida Diagonal and passes Gaudi’s exquisite La Pedrera. Limassol is the island’s second largest city and the centre of the wine industry. Shoppers will find everything from big brands to souvenirs plus a branch of Debenhams department store on the main shopping streets of Makarious III Avenue, Anexartisias Street and Agiou Andreou Street, as well as several clothes and shoes boutiques in the Maximos Plaza shopping mall on Maximos Michaelides Street. Don't forget to check out the luxurious Limassol Marina home port to some of the Mediterranean's biggest mega yachts and ultra-luxe brands. RED WEALTH. SOVJET DESIGN 1950-1980 - первый выставочный проект, посвященный советскому дизайну, который будет показан в европейском музее. В экспозиции - более 500 предметов: мебель, текстиль, бытовая техника и посуда, игрушки, плакаты, уникальные архивные материалы.

Разделы выставки представят различные аспекты жизни и материальной культуры советского гражданина: мир детства и игр, спорт и массовые мероприятия, досуг и хобби, обустройство домашнего быта, образование, наука и индустриальное производство. На выставке будут показаны объекты, образцы графического и промышленного дизайна, оригинальные чертежи и макеты из собрания Московского музея дизайна и частных коллекций, уникальные экспонаты, предоставленные дизайнерами и их семьями.

К выставке подготовлены видеоинтервью с ведущими дизайнерами советского времени Юрием Соловьевым, Валерием Акоповым, Владимиром Рунге, Игорем Зайцевым, Светланой Мирзоян, Владимиром Анисимовым, Александром Ермолаевым. В рамках выставки будет показан уникальный документальный фильм «Дизайн в СССР», который был сделан специально для продвижения советского дизайна за рубежом.

Художники-конструкторы и художники промышленной графики занимались тем, что Европе и США называли «промышленный дизайн» и «графический дизайн». Советские дизайнеры не могли иметь собственные студии , их имена были известны только в профессиональной среде.

В 1960-х годах начался процесс формированием собственной государственной системы дизайна - и копии стали заменяться оригинальными разработками. Работы советских дизайнеров получали признание на международных выставках. Дизайнеры ВНИИТЭ (Всесоюзного научно-исследовательского институту технической эстетики) принимали участие проектных семинарах «Интердизайн», что давало им возможность обмениваться опытом с западными коллегами.

SOVJET DESIGN 1950-198026.09.2015 — 14.02.2016

The exhibition includes some iconic pieces of the Soviet lifestyle, examples of graphic and industrial design, technical drawings and prototypes made by Soviet designers. The exhibits come from the Moscow Design Museum and private collections.

The exhibition is divided into sections, each representing a certain aspect of a Soviet citizen’s life and material culture: childhood and leisure, sports and public events, visual communication and packaging design, furniture and household products, precision engineering and industrial production, as well as unique VNIITE projects.

The exhibition features video interviews with leading Soviet designers, filmed specially for this

project: Yuri Soloviev, Valeri Akopov, Vladimir Runge, Igor Zaitsev, Svetlana Mirzoyan, Alexander Yermolayev, and others. Also on show is the unique archival documentary “Design in the USSR” (1977) that was originally filmed to promote Soviet design abroad.

WHY DO WE KNOW SO LITTLE ABOUT DESIGN FROM THE SOVIET UNION?

P r o b l e m o f c o p y i n g a n d Copyright Following World War II the Soviet industry experienced acute problems related to technological limitations. This was especially evident in consumer goods production. In some cases this problem was solved by the direct

copying or modification of western counterparts, such as household appliances and transport vehicles produced on the other side of the Iron Curtain. The Soviet state system of design was formed during the 1960’s and by the 1970’s most of the copies were replaced by original designs. At this time projects by Soviet designers started to receive recognition at international fairs. A major change occurred in 1973, when the USSR jo ined the Un iversa l Copyr igh t Convention. 

Problem of mass production In the 1970-1980’s, within the framework of a planned economy and bureaucratization of government, it was difficult for Soviet designers to put their projects into mass production. Less than one third of all developed projects were realized.

The term ‘design’ was not officially in use in the Soviet Union until 1980’s.‘Artists-constructors’ and ‘artists who specialize in industrial graphics’ (Soviet definitions for designers) worked in the areas defined in Europe and the USA as ‘industrial design’ and ‘graphic design’. Soviet designers could not have their own commercial studios and their names were known only within narrow professional circles.
