ANNUAL MEETING

OCT. 19, 2017

EVERETT HILLS

It has been an amazing 12 years serving with two of the most

dedicated Christian servants I know., Joe and Linda Ledford.

Their zeal for sharing the gospel to everyone they encounter has

been a contagion that has spread across many individuals & churches who have

served through CHARM. A common phrase heard among mission teams who

come to Townsend to serve as they leave will say “We can do this back home”.

What a wonderful legacy to establish a mission heart in the lives of so many peo-

ple. Personally, I have enjoyed working with the Ledford’s as they have always

demonstrated a willingness to do what ever was needed to see a mission or min-

istry project be successful in God’s kingdom work. I have sough out their advise

on many occasions & found their point of view brings clarity to my thoughts or

concerns.

On Sat. June 3rd @ the Townsend Visitors Center pavilion from 2-4pm we will

host a reception for the Ledford’s to express our appreciation. It will be a festive

event with refreshments & ministry displays telling the story of CHARM & the im-

pacts the Ledford’s have had on it’s ministry. We are receiving a “Love Offering”

for them. Please send your gift to the CBA office, 341 E Lincoln Rd., Alcoa, TN

37701 and indicate that it is for the “Ledford Offering”. There will be a basket @

the reception for gifts/cards. Please help us make this a memorable event as we

send them onto the next phase of service to our Lord. RSVP to [email protected] or

call 865-982-0499 by May 30th. In Christ’s Love, Jim Snyder

When God moves, He always does so in a unique way. Larry

Overton, Camp Tipton Director, has resigned to become the

pastor of Bethel Baptist in Townsend. While we will still have

his influence and leadership in the association it will be in a different role. We

wish Larry well in his new area of service and express tremendous gratitude for

his influence on the success of our camp programing. Larry has established a

solid foundation of ministry through our Day Camp and Adventure Camps for

middle school students. His leadership will be missed. We will host a special

reception for Larry and his family soon. Please pray for and encourage Larry &

Praying for CHARM

Exciting days are ahead for CHilhowee ARea Ministries. As it moves into its 15th year of serving people in Jesus’ name, CHARM is no longer only a summer outreach to campgrounds. Rather, activities at CHARM occur in every month of the calendar year.

We want to take this opportunity to issue a call to prayer for some people who are carrying CHARM for-ward to next things.

Pray for Jim Snyder, CBA Director of Missions, as he seeks a new director for CHARM. Ask God to pre-pare the right person to become the director.

Pray for Steve and Sandra Monroe as they coordinate the Upside Down servant evangelism.

Pray for Ricky and Veronica Sims as they coordinate outreach to the campgrounds.

Pray for Kathy Myers and Pat Flynn as they minister to motel workers in Townsend.

Pray for Larry Carter (Big Meadow Campground), David Ricketts (KOA Campground), Steve Monroe and Truth Is band (Mountaineer Campground) and Steve Myers (Tremont Campground) as they conduct ser-vices each Sunday morning.

Pray for Steve and Shelley Self, Scott and Missy Lane, and Mike and Renaee Lindsey as they serve as volunteer staff members with CHARM.

Pray for Larry and Linda Jordan and Albert and Wilma Myers, who help coordinate service at festivals.

Pray for the hundreds of volunteers on mission teams who will serve this year.

Give thanks to God for those who have grown closer to him over the past years, and for those he is call-ing to himself.

As we end our time at CHARM, we are grateful to Jim Snyder and Kelly Campbell, who offered us the opportunity to serve here.

We thank God for those who have personally enriched our lives through your friendship, support and prayers. We’ve enjoyed serving with you.

We’ve been blessed to be part of the family at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and are grateful for pas-tor Greg Long.

We’ve been loved by the leadership and staff at the association.

We have served with joy,

Joe and Linda Ledford

We have begun a new method for supplying food for our clients. Change is often very hard and this is some-

thing we think will help us in the long run. Our clients now have a choice in selecting the foods they receive

from us. Each family is given a listing of our available items and can pick up to a certain amount from the

list. This will allow them to take more of the things they will use instead of receiving a standard package

that we put together for them. Families are still able to get about the same amount of food but only food

they will use. Many clients have told us they have an abundance of spaghetti or peanut butter or other food

items that they very seldom use. This will help us with our purchases as well and hopefully save us some

money for our food budget.

We have continued to reach out to Banner Baptist Church in Gatlinburg. We delivered the rest of the tables

our folks were able to purchase for them. We were also able to supply them with 6 queen mattresses and

box springs for use in their ministry. We will continue to give updates as they decide how to proceed with

their rebuilding.

Reconcile Ministries is continuing to meet each Thursday evening. This ministry has been very fruitful in

reaching out to those who need encouragement and accountability. We now have 2 churches that help with

our meals and we are very thankful for their help. Maple Grove and Piney Level have taken on the task for

supplying a meal each month and it really helps as we try to make a difference in folks who need to know

there are those who care for them.

Thank you churches for providing totes and supplies for the Resurrection Celebration. We are better togeth-

er. Churches to bring food in May: Maryville First Baptist, East Walland, Four Mile, Friendly Hill, Friendship,

Maple Grove, Niles Ferry. Churches to bring food in June: Monte Vista, Carson Island, Liberty, Mount Car-

mel, Union Grove.

Greetings in the name of JESUS! It is SPRING! PRAISE THE LORD! What a beautiful time of the year!

I have been to the Women's Get Together in Gatlinburg along with over 1400 women and girls! It was

great seeing everybody you see from year to year! And miss those gone since last year. Miss Bernice the

Christian Humorist that is usually with Miss Bertha in Gatlinburg was not with us. She was in Nairobi Ken-

ya to see her first grandbaby born. She now has a beautiful 9lb beautiful grand daughter. She is in HOG

Heaven. (HOG IS HER ARKANSAS TEAM)

I don't know how many of you remember Carrol Kelly that was our Executive Director-Treasurer at one

time, but one of her sisters was killed in the van accident in New Braunfeils, Texas. They were on their

way back from a retreat. Please remember Carrol and the family in your prayers.

Please remember our Executive Director Director-Treasurer right now in your prayers. On Tuesday after

the Gatlinburg trip she (Vickie Anderson), had a recent surgery and has been in a lot of pain.

I don't know how many of you know that I had Bells Palsy strike me on February 21st and was in the hos-

pital for 3 days. It will be 7 weeks tomorrow and I still have some paralysis on that side of my face. It was

excruciating pain in my jaw. Still hurts some. They said it could take up to 6 months to return to normal.

so I appreciate all prayers. I was in bed for 3 weeks, then started feeling better in the fourth week, so now

it is on to God's plans for me. I covet your prayers as I have a mission trip in April, June, August and Sep-

tember if God provides the money and my health holds out. Missions is what I live for. Missions is my life

After GOD!

Until next time, May God Bless you!
