NCP CE Credit Requirements

What Is Required?• The CE requirement for the NCP Certification is:

50 CE Credits and 3 ECCHO Workshops over 5 Years

• 50 minutes of education = 1 credit – 1 Hour (60 Minutes) equals 1.2 credits

• The maximum number of credits in any year is 30.– Anything over 30 credits cannot be carried over to the next year.– Any credits taken over the 50 total required

cannot be carried over to the next certification period.

• Credits can be earned as early as April 1st of the year in which the exam is passed.


ECCHO NCP Workshops• Three ECCHO NCP Workshops are required in a 5 year term• Workshops are offered 3 times annually

– Targeted for May, August and November– Typically 90 minute webinars

• A maximum of 2 Workshops per year will be recognized

• In order to get recognized for Workshop participation, you must be the purchaser of the Workshop. – “Piggy-backs” are allowed but are only eligible for CE credit and will

not count as one of the three Workshops needed.– If you are the purchaser of the workshop, you will not need to enter

the session when filing credits, the entry is made upon purchase.– If you are listening for CE credits you will need to submit as a normal

CE session

Sources for NCP CE CreditsPre-Approved Sessions• Sessions submitted to ECCHO by our training partners and providers as

sessions which include NCP Education topics. • Pre-Approved sessions are posted as they are accepted by ECCHO• The cost of these sessions will vary depending on the provider

Sessions which are not pre-approved• Credit eligibility will be based on inclusion of NCP Education Topics

which mirrors the topics that were on the Exam• Educational Sessions may include conferences, industry group meetings,

webinars, lunch-and-learn sessions, in-person meetings to name a few.• You are responsible to maintain documentation for these sessions for a

period of 2 years.

Sources for NCP CE CreditsAdditional Credit Resources

• Instructors/Speakers will receive double Credit – Max of 15 Credits/year• Be a Guide - 1 credit per 50 minutes of guidance – Max 5 Credits/year • 1 Credit per 500 words published – Max 10 credits/year• In-Person ECCHO Operations Meetings or Subcommittee (in-person)

meetings – 6 credits/meeting• ECCHO NCP Class Instructor Certification – Max 15 credits

Filing NCP CE Credits


2. Click on the “Enter CE Sessions” tab. Then click enter a new CE Session



3. Enter Session Details:• Click “Provider” dropdown,

choose the provider for your Pre-Approved Session.

• Click “Session Date” dropdown, choose the date of the session

• Click “CE Session”, choose the session title

• The Credit Value will automatically populate

• If you were the speaker for the session, click the speaker box to get double credit

• Click Save

Filing a Manual (not Pre-Approved) Session:

2. Click “Provider not Found”Even if the provider is listed but you know the session is not pre-approved, click provider not found.



3. You will need the session details highlighted below

• Add the session date• Session type• Click the blue box if you were the speaker• Session Title• Session Description: the description should tell us which parts of the

NCP educational topics were covered in this session. If you are audited you will need to provide documentation of the content.

• Instructor/Speaker name• Minutes of Education – enter length of the session in minutes, the credits

value will be calculated for you.• Once complete, click save



Filing a Recorded or On-Demand Session:1. Click on the “Enter CE Sessions tab. Then click enter a new CE Session



2. Enter Session Details:• Click “Provider” dropdown, choose the provider for your

recorded Session.• Click “Session Date” dropdown, choose 01/01/2016• Click “CE Session”, choose the session title• The Credit Value will automatically populate• Click Save

Filing a Recorded or On-Demand Session:



• The credit filing window is January 1- March 31

• Sessions may be entered throughout the year and will show in the “Pending Sessions” Box

• Once the filing window opens you will see a little blue box in the right hand corner that says “Pay Now to Submit”

• Once the fee is paid, the sessions will move to processed

• You MUST pay the filing fee and submit credits (by March 31st) for them to count for credit

• Please note: You may only submit once per year. After you pay the fee and submit, any sessions entered will go to pending until the following year. If you need to add to submitted sessions please reach out to us.

Filing Fees:

• Annual Continuing Education (CE) Credit filing period is January 1 through March 31 the year immediately following the year in which Credits are earned. –

• Annual filing fees apply for all Credits filed. • Late filing fees are assessed for Credits filed after March 31st and prior to April 30.

• These are in addition to the normal annual filing fee.

Audit Process

• Each year ECCHO will randomly select 50 NCPs whose Credits will be audited.

• Audits are for prior year Credit submissions. – NCP will need to maintain documentation for two

year period. • NCP will need to provide all required documentation supporting all Credits submitted for the year being audited

• Any NCP chosen must participate in the audit and complete the audit within the timeframe specified as instructed or risk losing NCP designation.

What kind of documentation do you need?

Pre‐Approved Sessions:Any session that is pre‐approved by ECCHO will only need proof of attendance since the content of the session is already approved.

Not Pre‐Approved Sessions:Sessions that have not been pre‐approved will need the content submitted as well as proof of attendance.

• Email Confirmation of payment • Email Confirmation of registration• Travel Itinerary• Conference tracker form• Conference Sign‐in Sheet• Completion Certificates

Any of the following that describes session content:• Presentation• Marketing Flyer • Conference program • Anything directly from the provider
