The commitment God asks of us
In the Gospel of this fifth Sunday of Lent Jesus makes a precise fundamental in terms of His mission as Messiah, because His way of salvation does not pass through as political power, but through total surrender.
The people of Israel expected the emergence of a powerful leader who would restore the old glories of the reigns of David and Solomon. And seeing the miracles that Jesus worked, many of them thought their dreams had come true.
However, Jesus has a different agenda, which is expressed through an image taken from the world of agriculture: "I assure you that unless a grain of wheat, planted in the ground and does not die, remains alone; but if dies, it produces much fruit. He who loves himself is lost; he who hates himself in this world, ensures for
eternal life. "Through these strong and radical words , Jesus explains how His and His disciples mission will bear fruit .
The formula is simple: no life is generated without giving your own; life is fruit of love and it flows to the extent that we love; love without limit is to give without calculations on how much I give and how much I receive in return.
Jesus invites us to undertake along with Him, His way of committing to others. The fecundity of evangelization does not depend on the transmission of a doctrine but from the practice of committed love weaving solidarity.
This is the invitation that Jesus has for us. However, we often stop ourselves in the implementation of initiatives in favor of others. And we stop because we do not want to risk our comfort and do not want to sacrifice our free time.
In a nutshell, selfishness is the major obstacle to a life that involves sharing. Relationships fail because of selfishness; social inequities occur. Jesus refers to the harmful effects of selfishness when He says: "He who
loves himself is lost; he who hates himself in this world, ensures for eternal life. " To live like Jesus involves living for others inspired by love. Saint Augustin said it well, with his teachings we
conclude this meditation: "Love and do what you want". Have a nice weekend!

recibo a cambio.
