South Florida gangsters have been buzzing ever since that the heist was carried out for a Miami based Brazilian billionaire who wanted the paintings for his home in Brazil. The word was that Boston mobsters Carmello Merlino, Robert Guarente and Robert Gentile masterminded and carried out the theft. They drove the paint-ings to Miami immediately and got $10 million for them. The new owner put them on his super yacht and left for Brazil 2 days after the heist. “As direct and proximate result of Defendants Robert J. Jacobson MD, David W. Dodson MD, and Keith D. Meyer MD’s negligence, Clarence Clemens expired on June 18, 2011.” That is how the lawsuit reads that claims these doctors killed Saxophone legend Clarence Clemens. Filed by William Clemens, Clarence’s brother, the family claims Clemens death was completely avoidable and happened because doctors failed to give Clemens blood thinner before he had carpal tunnel surgery at the Laser & Surgery Center of the Palm Beaches. The main target seems to be Robert Jacobson, who according to the lawsuit failed to “perform adequate pre-operative clearance, failed to order appropriate pre and post operative anticoagulation and failed to adhere to recognized medical stan-dards.” The trial may occur before Christmas this year and promises to be career ending for someone if negligence is proven. People don’t usually die from carpal tunnel surgery. Four days after the surgery Clemens was found dead on the kitchen floor of his 18th floor Singer Island Condo by his wife Victoria. All the defendants are well known doctors in Palm Beach and the medical profession has been buzzing since the lawsuit was filed. Patients and their families are allegedly contacting attorneys representing the Clemens family with their own stories of alleged negligence by these doctors and as one person told me “The whole thing is mushrooming out of control.”Paul Pope says mom owes him $1 Billion........Lois Pope is now 79, well known on the Palm Beach Charity circuit and is photographed in almost every issue of Palm Beach Society Magazine attending the top charity events of the season. Her son Paul is 45 and pissed off. He claims his mother is squander-ing her fathers fortune from the National Enquirer, which was sold for $412 million in 1989, to be accepted by Palm Beach Society as a blue blood. Paul claims his Mom “pays dearly to be painted as a philanthropist extraordinaire, she is actually a moldy old fraud.” He claims that a will that left him the National Enquirer disappeared after Daddy Generoso’s death. He goes further claiming his Mom “stole from her children so she can give money to charities in a desperate effort to gain acceptance.” Paul Pope made a final statement - “It is time for another dance with the attorneys.” Stay tuned. A vote on Pot coming in 2014........A big fund raiser for President Obama is telling people he will finance a massive marijuana initiative to let Floridians vote on legal-izing pot in November 2014. His name is John Morgan, he’s a criminal attorney in Orlando who also has a well known guy on his staff - former Governor Charlie Crist. Everyone thinks Crist will run for Governor as a Democrat in 2014 and this ballot initiative to legalize “medical” weed may help him win, as it will bring every lazy pot head to the polls who may normally not make the effort. A recent poll in Florida resulted in 73% of those questioned saying they support the right of doctors to prescribe pot. It would cost upwards of $3.5 million to fund the ballot drive, Morgan says “I have the money.” 683,149 Floridians would have to sign petitions to get it on the ballot, then 60% would have to vote for it. Right-wing Republican Christian Evangelicals like radio blowhard Bill Bunkley are railing against the effort claiming “medical marijuana laws can lead to a type of legalization.” It always strikes me funny how right-wing Republicans who claim they stand for “personal freedom” are always the people standing in the way of it. Pot is in every city in America and it is not going away. People like it. Tax it, legalize it and take it out of the hands of slimy drug dealers. Someone smoking a joint in their own home should not bother Bill Bunkley or any one else. She’s gonna get the gold mine.....The biggest divorce in American history is slated for this year and it may end with Sue Ann Hamm getting $5 Billion. Her soon to be ex-husband is Continental Resources CEO Harold Hamm, who may lose control of the company and have a fortune estimated at over $11 Billion cut in half. He’s 67, she’s 56. Sue Ann is also a former employee of Continental Resources and married the boss in 1988, they have 2 children. She claims he had a sexual affair. Harold Hamm was the senior energy advisor to Mitt Romney during his presi-dential campaign and is saying nothing. The most expensive divorce on record was Anna Murdock getting $1.7 Billion from media mogul Rupert Murdock in 1999. Harold Hamm is a self made man, he was the youngest of 13 children born to a sharecropper and spent his youth picking cotton before he got a job at 20 scrub-bing the scum out of oil barrels. He worked his way up and was eventually able to start drilling his own wells. To this day he drives himself around in a pickup truck.Gay Gainesville Mayor busted for DUI........Days before an upcoming April 16th runoff election for Mayor in Gainesville the first openly gay mayor in Florida was charged with DUI after a highway trooper found him on the side of the road asleep behind the wheel of his Honda Civic (real patriotic) with 4 flat tires and major front end damage.
