SynopsisA man and woman are immerged in the spiral of passing time. The beginning is also the end of a cycle. Caught in their action, their desires will be intercepted by Chronos who intercedes on their behalf. They go through symbolic situations that reflect the influence of time on their lives, from their mythical origin in conception to contemporary stress. Time, conceived as food, is beyond theme. A gigantic metronome forces them to turn, to undress and to realise that as they go forward they are gaining and loosing time. In the world’s perspective, time has run out; but for them, the repetition has just begun. Chronos, the watchful God, endlessly awaits them.

Marco and Chloé direct their company together since 2005. Their union finds its substance in the identical approach they find in their understanding of flamenco as an art of dancing in itself. Together they have been able to create and develop a language of their own that unites tradition and modernity. They have been part of the most important national programs as Bienal de Flamenco, Festival Jerez, Mercat de les Flors, Festival of Classical Theater of Merida, and have performed their creations on remarkable places such us Tanzhaus nrw & International Tanzmesse nrw (Düsseldorf), Théâtre Forum Meyrin

(Genève), Les Plateaux, La Briqueterie (Vitry-sur-Seine), Le Quartz- Scène nationale (Brest) and Théâtre du Rond- Point ( Paris), among others.

Marco Vargas and Chloé Brûlé earned a Giraldillo prize for Innovation at the 15th Flamenco Bienale of Seville for Ti-ME-TABLE, or the unavoidable time, which was also distinguished at the 2009 Stage Awards with the Dance Award. They also won awards for Best Dramaturgy and Best Sound Space at the Teatro del Sur Festival in Palma del Río for Cuando uno quiere y el otro no and the

Audience Prize for Most Innovative Show on Tour at the 20th Aragon International Dance and Theatre Fair for TI-ME-TA-BLE. They won the prize for Best Choreography at the 2012 Stage Awards for Por casualidad, while Me va gustando won prizes for Best Dance Performance at the 2015 Stage Awards and Best Choreography at the 3rd Andalusian Theatre Awards. Their last work, Libertino, received six nominations for the Max Performing Arts Awards and has won the prize for Best Dance Performance at the 2016 Lorca Awards.

The CompanyThey seem able to renew the dialogue between contemporary dance and flamenco and the relationship between both arts and the street, two of the pillars of their aforementioned language along with the search for beautiful and impressive imagery, energy and passion and the creation of symbolic dramas around the fundamental themes of human existence, focuses never abandoned which have ensured that their work is undeniably consistent. The duo is complicit and complementary; their choreographies accordingly recall human relationships and the ability to mutually understand and comprehend. Dialogue may indeed be the key word characterising this company, which successfully combines cante and baile (flamenco singing and dancing) with contemporary dance, folk costumes and new technology, sonorous electronic landscapes with flamenco attitude and the masculine with the feminine. Chloé Brûlé (Montreal, 1978)

After having obtained a classical degree at the Canadian Grand Ballet school, Chloè travels through Spain in order to get closer to flamenco art. She completes her training with masters like Manolo Marín, Andrés Marín, Javier Latorre (Rinconete and Cortadillo), Angeles Gabaldón (Inmigración), Israel Galván (Torero alucinógeno) and Fernando Lima. In 2013 she opened the space ESTUDIO 35 in Seville, a place of creation and education for dance and flamenco artists. Besides her creative work, Chloé also teaches and has given courses in Spain, Canada, Scotland, Italy, Greece and Germany, among others, and also collaborates with other projects and artists such as Niño de Elche, Juan Carlos Lérida, Asha Thomas o Las Migas.

Juan José Amador (Seville 1960)

Juan José Amador’s carreer was premature. Coming from a great flamenca tradition, the Amador family, Juan José starts singing very early in the tablaos (Los gallos, El Arenal). With his voice, he acompanies many dancers like Mario Maya, Farruco, Matilde Corral, Cristina Hoyos, Manuela Carrasco or Israel Galván (El Final de este estado de cosas, Redux).He has also recorded several albums: Dame veneno, with Raimundo Amador and Paco Cepero; Suite Sevilla with Rafael Riqueni; Rock gitano the musicians from his older brother’s band, Pata Negra. Recently he has participated in the recording of the DVD, La noche flamenca, with the bailaora Pastora Galván.

Marco Vargas (Seville, 1973)

He was born in Seville within the world of flamenco. He starts dancing very young in a tablao called El Patio Sevillano but then stops in order to join the legendary dancer Mario Maya’s Company. He follows his vocational path in the Compañía Andaluza de danza and then follows on with the Salvador Tavora company. He tours internationally for di�erent companies and combines his performances and productions with courses where he shares his knowledge at various festivals and dance programs as the flamenco Festival of Mont de Marsan, Tanzhaus Dusseldorf and various dance centers in Japan, Germany, Spain and France, among others.

Biographies

Marco and Chloé are always open to new horizons. In their ongoing search for innovation their career includes time spent as a resident performing company in France (Le 104 in Paris and the Centre Nacional de Danse de La Rochelle). They have twice co-produced with Dusseldorf’s Tanzhaus and have collaborated in works such as Alejandría, la mirada oblicua by 8co80 Producciones and La solitude dans un champ de coton by L’Échapée Lyrique, based on a text by Bernard Marie Koltés.

On an individual basis they have worked with Diego Amador, Israel Galván, Juan Carlos Lérida, Olga Pericet, Alba Carmona (Las Migas), Asha Thomas, Belén Maya and Niño de Elche, among others. They have also taken part in film projects such as “Flamenco”, by Carlos Saura; the documentary “Otras Flamencas” by Bianca dos Santos and Tatiana Guedes; the television programme “Ils Danset” of Radio Canada; and the dance-video “Aurresku Gitano” by Josetxo Goia-Aribe.

ShowsThe first creation by Vargas & Chloé was the outdoor show Las 24 (2005), soon followed by Cuando uno quiere y el otro no (2006), distinguished with the award for Best Dramaturgy and Best Sound Space at the Teatro del Sur Festival in Palma del Río (Andalusia) and the Innovation award at the Aragon International Theatre and Dance Fair.TI-ME-TA-BLE or the unavoidable time (2008) was later presented at the Seville Flamenco Bienal where it was awarded the Giraldillo Prize for Innovation. ¿Hacia dónde? was presented as a show for peculiar and outdoor spaces at the Cádiz Dance Festival.Marco and Chloé opened a new show at Seville’s Teatro Central in 2011, Tripolar, with the exceptional participation of the singer Juan José Amador.This was followed by Private Collection, a repertoire which revisits the Vargas-Brulé company’s most

emblematic works, brought to the public in March 2012 at Seville’s La Imperdible Theatre and in September 2012 at the Flamenco Bienal, earning praise from critics.In November 2012 they presented a new outdoor show, Por casualidad, during Seville Dance Month, and won the prize for Best Choreography at the Seville Stage Awards.In 2014 they created Me va gustando a show for peculiar spaces which earned awards for Best Dance Performance at the 2015 Seville Stage Awards and Best Choreography at 3rd Andalusian Theatre Awards.In October 2015 they presented their latest creation, Libertino, at the Iberian-American Theatre Festival in Cádiz, earning six nominations for the Max Performing Arts Awards; it was recently awarded the prize for Best Dance Performance at the 2016 Lorca Awards.

It is a premiere in France and it takes place in Brest at the Quartz, o�ered by artists who possess an overflowing creativity as well as a metronomic sens of rigour. On stage, as soon as the lights turn on, one is striken by the greatness of the images that string together in an unavoidable tiempo. (...) A man, a woman. A singer, a pianist. Exceptional Diego Amador ! All of them have their role to play in the evolution of a dramaturgy dedicated to Chronos. At the back of the stage, dawns and dusks suceed each other, with a rivalry of shimmering colours sculpting Marco Vargas et Chloé Brûlé’s silhouettes, perfect dancers.The lights play with light-hearted cleverness. Symbolic paintings, unclutted, seem to represent a sacred ritual, both ancestral and turned towards the future. (...) All Flamenco’s codes are present, carved in the postures, in the feet and hands, in Juan José Amador’s singing. But everything is revisited in depth.
