Our University and Faculty

The University of Macau (UM) was founded in 1981. It was a private university in its first ten years and was called University of East Asia. Through thirty years of development, the University of Macau has become a leading university and the only public comprehensive university in Macao. Ever since its founding, the University of Macau has nurtured over ten thousand outstanding graduates for the society.

In line with the vision of the University of Macau to “nurture outstanding talents who can serve as future leaders of Macao and the world by following international standards and promoting excellence in teaching as well as innovation in scientific research” and to “build a first-class university with distinctive regional features,” the mission of the Faculty of Business Administration is to establish a solid reputation as a leader for business, management, and administration education.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Macau intends to establish a learning platform for the aspiring business professionals to advance their careers in Macau and beyond. We adopt a balanced and practical approach to design our MBA program. Only essential general management skills and knowledge are included in the core curriculum, supplemented by a wide range of electives from other business disciplines.

Our program aims to:

Provide essential knowledge for understanding and interpreting the challenges in modern business environment

Develop leadership and teamwork skills Cultivate analytical and problem solving capacity

Nurture the awareness of corporate social responsibility and ethics

Engender a service orientation in a business context

Our Program課程介紹

澳門大學工商管理碩士課程 (MBA) 旨意為有抱負的專業管理人士提供一個學習平台，以促進學生於澳門及外

地的事業發展。本課程設計實用並在相關管理知識方面涵蓋性廣。核心課程包括實用性的綜合管理技巧和知識，

並輔以一系列其他商業範疇之選修課程。

課程目的:

授予學生必備知識以理解現代商業環境的挑戰

發展學生領導能力和團隊合作技巧培養學生分析和解決 問題的技巧 培育學生對企業的社會責任及道德意識 營造一個服務導向的商業環境

Our Curriculum The medium of instruction of our MBA program is English. A variety of activities and exercises are designed and adopted in our courses to improve student learning and performance, such as case studies, lectures, seminars, projects, teamwork and simulation. Students

are required to obtain at least 39 credits for graduation upon completing either an academic or applied thesis. All lectures are normally held on weekday evenings from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The normal program duration is 2 years.

* Economics and Statistics are pre-requisites for this program.

Each of them carries 3 credits.

Admission is open to applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in any area of undergraduate study, and can demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English by providing a testimonial of English as the medium of instruction issued by their undergraduate university or TOEFL, IELTS , CET6 , TEM4 or TEM8 scores as a proof of English proficiency.

Applicants must have at least 2 years full-time work experience before the registration period at the end of August of the academic year they apply for admission. If necessary, applicants may be required to provide the documents certifying full-time employment experience.

除了本學院組織的定期學術講座外，本課程亦

於2010年開始推出「MBA行政人員論壇」系列，

邀請澳門或香港著名高級管理人員分享他們的業務

管理經驗並與學生們互動。在過去的幾年間，獲邀

到本校與學生分享他們的管理經驗和對業界的細緻

分析的高級管理人員分別來自以下機構: 中國工商

銀行（ICBC）、澳門商業雜誌、澳門電力股份有限

公司（CEM）、鉅記食品有限公司和伯爵萊利(Pal

Zileri)本地分銷商。

為提升同學們的分析思維及豐富他們的學習生活，

本課程每年均舉辦「MBA案例比賽」，並邀請同

學們自行組隊參加。比賽中勝出之隊伍將代表本學

院參加於上海舉行的「霍特國際商學院獎」區域決

賽。

本課程每年還為有興趣參與的學生組織一個實

地考察團到訪亞洲一些企業和大學。過去曾到訪的

地區包括北京、上海、西安和新加坡。

In addition to the regular academic seminars organized by the faculty, our program also launched the MBA Executive Forum Series in 2010. Each time we will invite a prominent executive in Macau or Hong Kong, who will share his/her business experiences and interact with the students. For example, over the last few years we had invited senior managers from Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Macau Business magazine, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM), Koi Kei Bakery and local distributor of Pal Zileri to share their management experience and industry insights with our students.

In order to enhance students’ analytical thinking and enrich their academic studies, they are invited to participate in the annual MBA Case competition and the winning team will represent our faculty to join the regional final of Global Hult Challenge in Shanghai.

An optional filed trip to visit major companies and universities in Asia will be offered to interested students every year. Past destinations included Beijing, Shanghai, Xian and Singapore.
