Principals message
Tēnā koutou ngā whānau o te kura o Whakamaru.
Our focus for this year is about “Connections” so we are looking at a range of opportunities, topics and subjects that will teach our students about “connections’ and what that means to everyone. “’
Huge thank you to those who have already linked into our school Classdojo. We have adopted Classdojo at school as a way for you to see your child's learning. This gives our stu-dents an opportunity to Blog their learning to you personally on their own ePortfolio. We will be using this rather than the clear file (hard copy) student portfolio.
We are extremely excited about our Family (whanau) Fiesta we are having on Friday. This is a very causal day where you will be able to talk to the teachers about your child's learn-ing and see how we are using Classdojo in class. No appoint-ments needed. We will be holding our standard assembly at 12noon in the Whare Manaaki and you are all invited to see how this runs. After assembly you are welcome to have a picnic with your child/ren , with our PTA selling sausages, mousies, juices etc on the day as well. Classes will be open for you to look through and ask questions about what we do at Whakamaru School. There will be NO school lunches on Friday.
Year 7 & 8 students Tech at Forest View will run every Thursday morning from 27 February—9:00—10:40. Please ensure your child is at school by 8:30am to catch the bus to Forest View in Tokoroa. Term 1 & 2 they will be covering “Food Technology and Digital Technology.” Term 3-4 they will have “Wood Tech & Metal tech.” Fees for this will be covered by the government;s donation scheme.
Breakfast club has started up for those students who have missed breakfast at home or who are genuinely hungry by the time they get to school. We have weetbix, fruit and milk available for our students to have before school starts at 8:45am.
Our Farm bus - I will be sending a special newsletter out to those students who take the bus, explaining this year’s situa-tion by next week. If you have any queries please contact me.
