If the ax is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but wisdom brings success Ecclesiastes 10:10
1
Abraham Lincoln once said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the ax.” Why would he say that? It’s because a dull ax requires a whole lot more labor which will produce a lot less fruit. In other words, more effort with fewer results. Also a dull ax is dangerous to work with. A sharp ax cuts into the wood; a dull ax hits it and bounces off hurting you and those around you. In the same manner, if it seems to be taking more effort on your part to accomplish less in your walk with God, maybe your ax is dull. Maybe you are losing or have already lost your spiritual edge. Ask yourself these questions to know for sure. • Are little things beginning to frustrate you and anger you in a big way? • Are you starting to draw away from God instead of toward Him? • Do you find yourself rehearsing events that make you angry all over again? • Do you find yourself in long bouts of hopelessness and despair? • Do you find that you are isolating yourself from

those you love and from church? • Are the habits that once brought you closer to God no longer in your life? • Do you have less and less times of consecration with God? Another sign of losing your spiritual edge is a barren atmosphere. In other words, you’re not winning but you’re not losing. You’re not attacking anyone, but you are out of sync with people. You are not in strife, but you’re not walking in agreement either. In other words, you’re in a stalemate. You’re living in spiritual mediocrity. Mediocre means half way up the peak. In other words, you’re above the lowly sinner, but below the shining saint. Did Jesus do all He did so we can just walk in barrenness and mediocrity? Of course not. A season of fasting and prayer will help you to get your spiritual edge back. Fasting will create an atmosphere that allows the conviction of the Holy Spirit to deal with negatives issues in your life that are causing you to lose your spiritual edge. You must be careful not to avoid the negative things that God wants you to deal with. Conviction is not an enemy

in your life. It just shows you that an enemy is present. 2 Corinthians 6 & 7 say that you are the temple of God. The word ‘temple is the same Old Testament word used to describe the “holy of holies”. In Matthew 21 Jesus came into the temple, the house of God. The first thing He did was cleansed it. He identified what was wrong and cleansed it. Then he made a declaration of the purpose of the house. It is to be a house of prayer. Finally, the supernatural took place. The blind and the lame came and were healed. In the same way, God wants to bring cleansing to your house, to your life. It’s time to sharpen your ax once again. Set aside a season of fasting and prayer to detach from the world and connect with God. What does He want to remove from your life? Let Him remove it. Listen for Him to once again declare His purpose for your life. Then watch the supernatural begin to work through you.

Experiencing times of pressure and anxiety in your life? Times of pressure and anxiety allow us the opportunity to stop and analyze what is, and what is not, working correctly in our lives. Once assessed, we can refocus and begin to move forward in these areas of life again. Matthew 6:33 advises us to “…seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Now, the Kingdom of God is simply God’s way of doing things. As we seek His way of doing things instead of pursuing another way then God’s promise to us is that “all things” can and will be added unto us! The key for this to occur in our lives is for us to do it God’s way, through His righteousness and not by another way.
As we study the Word of God we see there are 3 key areas for healthy and flourishing life:
Firstly…. God must be the source in every area of our lives. He must be the source of our strength, our abilities and of our finances. Never allow our jobs, investments, family or the government to be our source. These things may bring money to our lives but we must place God alone as the ultimate source of everything that is good in life [Matthew 6:33].
Secondly… We are called to live a generous and honest life. We cannot expect to be blessed in any area of our life if our dealings are based on lies, falsehoods, ripping others off and not paying our bills. Galatians 6:7 instructs us that we will always harvest what we have planted. If we plant a lie, we will harvest a crop of lies or simply put, people will lie to us. If we plant dishonesty, we will reap dishonesty. On the other hand, if we plant with generosity and integrity then we’ll bring an abundance of generosity and integrity back into our lives. Luke 6:38 makes a clear point that if we give generously we will receive back from others generously.
Thirdly… Prayer. It is impossible to truly survive and flourish in any arena of life without having God’s direction. Each of us needs heaven’s wisdom to be able to handle life correctly. The Bible shows us in James 1:5 that we are to ask God for wisdom if we lack it. James follows on with God’s promise that wisdom will be given to the one who asks for it. Currently the world’s media steeps us daily with information concerning the bad news on life. Truth on what we need to do is not found in the media but it is found in the Word of God and through asking Him for wisdom in prayer.
Now that we’ve taken a moment to see truth from God’s Word, let’s talk about focus. I love photography; it has always been a pastime I enjoy. I know that to bring something into focus takes only a small adjustment to the lens and then you have a clear sharp image to capture. This is often the same in life. As we make adjustments according to the Word of God, things become clearer in our lives. We can all be a little more generous; we can all pray a little more and ensure that God is the one we are looking too. These small adjustments can bring great change into our lives.
Place God as the only true source in your life, live in generosity and integrity, prayerfully gaining wisdom and obeying His Word. Philippians 4:9 says “Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing and the God of peace will be with you.”

Psalm 66:4 "With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God. I will give glory to your name forever"
Cindy-‐Leigh Boske
1
To praise and worship God is to express our love and awe of who He is, it’s about the sound of a redeemed heart expressing thanksgiving! In Isaiah 66:1 God says, “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” He is the Creator of the universe and everything in it, which includes you and me. How wonderful and amazing is that! I believe that we too often associate worship with singing. But there are certainly other types of worship. I believe the most important way to show our devotion to God is through our everyday lives. When we strive to be Christ-‐like, in loving and serving others, to honour and glorify God, then we are truly worshiping Him. We can worship God through prayer, singing, raising our hands in adoration, dance, art, through the use of colors, playing instruments, using flags and banners! "Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
2
Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods. The gods of other nations are mere idols, but the Lord made the heavens! Honor and majesty surround him; strength and joy fill his dwelling. O nations of the world, recognize the Lord, recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong. Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come to worship him. Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor." 1 Chronicles 16:23-‐29 NLT When you worship, the Holy Spirit can speak and be heard, Worship enables your heart to be open and receive. There is so much power in Worship! I am reminded of Paul and Silas in prison and how the power of worship set them free! True worship is not about us but it's all about

God. We cannot worship God in truth with sin in our lives or if there is self-‐will in our hearts, because it is about God’s will for us and not the other way around. In John 4:23-‐24 it says we are created to worship. Worship for me isn’t a Sunday thing or a hobby its my lifestyle! Its about being yourself, coming to the Father and loving on Him for who He is not what He does for us. CLB
