Security SystemThe system supervisor can customize
all aspects of the database security sys-
tem. He decides to which functions a
user or a group of users have access. All
users have their own unique ID and
passwords. The QM6 database(s) can-
not be edited using any application other
than QM6, according to the regulations
set out by ISO 9000, FDA, OSHA etc.
Ergonomic User InterfaceSpecial emphasis has been placed on
making the user interface as smooth
and easy-to-use as possible, while still
offering the maximum flexibility and
functionality needed for the calibration
and maintenance management of today’s
complex instrument systems. The user
interface represents a ‘card-file’ struc-
ture, thus giving the user the feeling that
they are flicking through instrument in-
formation cards. Thanks to the opti-
mized ergonomics of the QM6 software,
the total work time and training require-
ments are minimized.
When opening your database, QM6 QualityManager Calibration Software automatically checks
instruments and calibrators due for calibration.
Calibrations Due ListIf enabled, QM6 automatically creates a
list of calibrators, positions and devices
due for calibration. Every time a database
is opened, the due list will be created and
displayed. The due list can be printed or an
individual item can be selected for deeper
analysis.
QM6 gives you calibration and maintenance lists. Viewing instrument and position data is easy in QM6.
QM6 sends calibration setups and procedures to the calibrator.
DATABASE STRUCTURE
Queries and SetsQueries allow you to filter out unwanted
records by broadly specifying the type of
records you would like to view.
The result of a query is dy-
namic; whenever a new posi-
tion/device matching the cri-
teria is added, it is included in
the query set. QM6 also sup-
ports static sets. They are
groups of positions or devices
selected for future batch pro-
cessing, such as devices to be
calibrated during the same week. Both the
query results and the static sets can be
utilized when selecting instruments to be
calibrated or maintained.
Labels and Route ListsA route list may be produced to accom-
pany the calibration work in the field. The
route list can, in addition to
the information of instruments
to be calibrated, include other
data such as calibration pro-
cedure notes or even pictures
describing the location of the
position. You can also print
calibration labels to be fixed to
the calibrated instrument. They
help by giving a quick over-
view of when an instrument/function has
last been calibrated or maintained.
Plant StructureThe plant under management may be bro-
ken down into different levels: plant, unit
of plant, process, loop and position. From
the interface it is possible to display all
details about the plant structure.
Logbook FunctionThe Logbook keeps track of database up-
dates and/or (user selected) events. The
database update/event is time stamped
with various information recorded includ-
ing user name, field name, reason for
changes, etc. Logbook provides the audit
trail required for Management of Change
(OSHA, FDA).
Print a route list to support the calibration work.
Automatic On-line CalibrationQM6 includes a unique on-line communi-
cation feature with QCAL® calibrators. In
the on-line calibration mode, QM6 con-
trols the complete calibration process,
and in some cases, the calibration can be
completely AUTOMATED. Most tempera-
ture and electrical based instruments (e.g.
transmitters, converters, switches) can
be calibrated without requiring the cali-
bration technician to make adjustment to
the instruments input value. When a pres-
sure controller is used, devices such as
pressure transmitters and switches, can
be calibrated virtually HANDS FREE!
On-line calibration allows completely automatedcalibration procedures. The only intervention by theoperator is to adjust the instrument under test.
Batch CalibrationWhen doing a batch calibration, QM6 com-
municates with both Beamex calibrators
and calibrators from other leading calibrator
manufacturers. When required, calibration
results can also be entered manually into
the database. Beamex calibrators can store
both the "as found" and "as left" calibration
results for up to 244 instruments if required.
History TrackingThe calibration history data can be viewed
both from the position’s and the device’s
point of view. This allows you to examine
detailed characteristics of a single device
during its life span even though the device
has been located in several positions. You
can also evaluate the functionality of indi-
vidual devices in a certain position.
Calibration in the field or in the workshop. Viewing calibration history.
History TrendingThe History Trend module helps you
estimate the optimum calibration period
for an instrument. With history trending
you can view results from previous cali-
brations of an instrument in order to see
how much the instrument settings have
drifted during the calibration period. If the
settings haven’t drifted much between two
calibrations you may extend the calibra-
tion period to save both time and money.

Documenting and ReportingQM6 automatically creates ready de-
signed calibration reports and certifi-
cates. The software allows printing of the
following documentation
● calibration certificates● calibration procedures● reports● route lists● labels● history trend certificates● calibrations due list● calibrators due list
The Certificate and Report Design mod-
ule increases the flexibility of QM6, offer-
ing the possibility to create your own
specific calibration and report documen-
tation. You can, for example add com-
pany logos and design the layout of the
text/graphic elements within the docu-
ment, or you can design a completely
new document.
QM6, part of your master maintenance management system. Printed reports and certificates.
Import/ExportWith the Import/Export module you can
import existing data from other databases
into QM6.
Key data within QM6 can also be exported
to external databases. The following for-
mats are supported in both import and
export: dBase, Access, Paradox, ODBC,
