KENAPA STORY TELLING?

Motivation: selalu membutuhkan cerita dan selalu ingin mendengar dan membaca cerita di saat yang tepat

Meaning: mencari makna demi memahami cerita

Fluency (listening dan reading) berdasarkan:

1. Sikap positif terhadap „tidak selalu harus mengetahui segalanya”

2. Skill untuk mencari makna, memprediksi, dan menduga

Kesadaran Berbahasa:

1. cerita membantu anak-anak tersadar akan

„rasa‟ dan bunyi bahasa asing.

2. Memperkenalkan anak2 pada pola kalimat

tanpa harus memproduksinya tetapi

disimpan sebagai reservoir sehingga

ketika saatnya tiba untuk memproduksi

pola kalimat tidak akan terlalu sulit karena

pola tersebut tidak baru lagi bagi mereka.

Stimulus untuk speaking dan writing

dengan cara memberi respons

Komunikasi: belajar bahasa tidak akan ada

gunanya jika kita tidak tahu bagaimana

berkomunikasi. Menyimak dan membaca

cerita serta meresponsnya melalui bicara

dan menulis membantu anak-anak

bagaimana berkomunikasi.

Mr. Brown’s Pet Shop

This is Mr. John‟s pet shop

What‟s in the pet shop?

Oh, there are some cats in the pet shop. Where are the cats?

What does a cat say? It says, meow, meow!

What‟s in the pet shop?

Oh, there are some frogs in the pet shop. Where are the frogs?

What does the frog say? It says, „croak, croak!‟

now all the animals and the birds and the fish are talking.

What a noise!!

Quite please! Quite please!

Now, here‟s a sausage. The dogs like it, they say, „Yum! Yum!‟

And the bear likes it, he says, „yum! Yum!‟

The fish don‟t like it. They say, „Yuk! Yuk!‟

Here‟s a strawberry. The fish, the snake and the bear like it.

They say, „Yum! Yum!‟

The dog, the cat, the parrot, the rabbit, and the turtle don‟t like it.

They say, „yuk! Yuk!‟

Here‟s some chocolate cake!

Who likes chocolate cake?

But today is the Bear‟s birthday. Bear, invite the pets to your birthday party!

And of course, all the pets sing a Happy Birthday song for the Bear.

Now the Bear says,

“help yourselves! There‟s cheese! There‟s a sausage!”

Here comes Mr. Brown

He‟s walking up the stairs.

One, two, three…

The bear says, “Quick! Go back to your cages!”

Then the Bear eats up all the food.

Mr. Brown says, “Good night, animal! Sleep well!”

And all the pets are quite except the Bear who says, “Yum! Yum!”
