The course focuses eachweekonaparticularhistoricalperiod that scrutinizesa specificurbanphenomenon.For thisempiricalinformationofaspecificcitywillbeconsultedwhichreflectstheparticularitiesofthisphenomenoninanappropiatemanner. Theaimof the course is that studentsofUrbanandRegionalPlanningacquireanotionabout the topographical, econological andeconomicdimensionsofurbanizationand its actors;thesocial,economicandculturalstruggleswherethecityactsasthestage;theformationofpublicandprivatespheresandtheirshifts;change in thecity-staterelationshipandthehistoricalcontinutiesandrupturesoftheculturalcreationinthecities.Thetheoreticalandempiricaltextsofhistorywritingonthe
