    In the second half of 2007, various major vendors have

    reported cases of cracking in welds that happened duringthe fabrication of heavy wall pressure vessels:

    The indications were planar, located in the weld and transverseto the weld axis.

    The indications were uniformly distributed along the weld andsometimes in clusters.

    The typical dimensions were 6 mm average length (20 mm max)

    and 3 mm max depth.

    Intergranular cracking occurred during ISR orPWHT treatment in the weld zone of V-modified Low Alloyed Steel (2Cr1MoV).
