MYP PERSONAL PROJECT

WHAT IS THE PERSONAL PROJECT

• It is a project that is initiated and developed by the student.

• THUS the “PERSONAL” aspect.

• The topic for the project can be nearly anything that interests the student.

WHY SHOULD YOUR STUDENT DO THE PERSONAL PROJECT…

• Receive a MYP Certificate (pending authorization)

• Build your resume for work and college

• NHS Transcript Notation

• Gain knowledge in a particular area of interest

PILOT GROUP 2

• Projecting 80 to 100 incoming freshman to participate.

• Pilot Group 2 will be independent of any course at NHS.

• Students will complete their project by the Spring of 2016.

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF PERSONAL PROJECTS

RESEARCH\WRITE

• Students research a self selected topic and write their findings in a report.

CREATE A PRODUCT

• Students create a product or organize an event related to their interest.

The key elements to a successful and meaningful Personal Project are:

ORIGINALITY INDIVIDUALITY PERSONAL

THERE ARE 3 COMPONENTS THAT ARE ASSESSED:

• The Process Journal

• The final outcome or product.

• The Personal Project report

PERSONAL PROJECT NIGHT

• Will be held in the Spring.

• All the projects will be displayed.

• The community will be invited to come see the projects.

• Some projects will be presented formally throughout the night.
