[18F]FEBMP: Positron Emission Tomography Imaging of TSPO in a Model of Neuroinflammation in Rats, and in vitro Autoradiograms of the Human Brain
Theme
Approach
Objective
Evaluation of our PET ligand derivatised from novel skeleton of acetamidobenzoxazolone for assessment of 18 kDa translocator protein (TSPO) in ischemic rat and human postmortem temporal cortex brain sections (from Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research at the University of Pennsylvania, USA) to determine the putative sensitivity of the ligand for the TSPO polymorphism rs6971
Insights & Results
Insight from this publication TSPO rs6971 polymorphism did not affect binding sites for [18F]FEBMP
[18F]FEBMP is a promising new tool for visualization of neuroinflammation
This ligand may beneficial for detecting activated microglia in inflamed human brain as seen in the present ischemic
rat model
Future Prospects
Advanced methods like cluster analysis will be performed with dynamic PET studies of individual to
determine appropriate reference region for quantification of TSPO.
Block Copolymer Based Nanoparticles for Theranostic Intervention of Cervical Cancer: Synthesis, Pharmacokinetics, and in Vitro/in Vivo Evaluation in HeLa Xenograft Models
Theme
Approach
Objective
Key Questions Nanotheranostic systems for imaging and therapy of cancer
1- Are these theranostic nanoparticles are effective delivery vehicles for tumor−specific delivery
2- Can such anticancer therapeutics aimed at FR(+ve) tumors may show added feature of simultaneous diagnosis
Results
Two NPs, called M-GEG and M-EGFA NPs, have been used to target cervical carcinoma passively and actively (The first NP consists of a triblock copolymer PEG-b-poly(glutamic acid)-b-PEG (GEG). The second NP consists of a diblock copolymer PEG-b-poly(glutamic acid) (EG) conjugated with folic acid for active targeting to form EGFA. Methotrexate (MTX) has been encapsulated in each formulation)
Future Prospects
Important for future for fabrication of stimuli-responsive di/tri block copolymers, for specific targeting/ precise
control of the drug-release and versatility in human clinical setup
Computational prediction of interaction and pharmacokinetics profile study for polyamino-polycarboxylic ligands on binding with human serum albumin
Theme
Approach
Objective
Computational Work flow & Results
Future
Prospects
1- Sensing and quantification of neurotransmitters by combining responsive MR contrast agents and
fluorescence probes
2- Supramolecular chemistry approaches to design and develop artificial hosts when approaching for
neurotransmitter-sensitive MR agents.
Visualization of neurotransmission in deep living may get great insight for understanding the brain function.
