SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA Febrero 21, 2016 Génesis 15,5-12. 17-18; Filipenses 3,17 o 4,1 o bien 3,20 -4,1; San Lucas 9,28-36 En las lecturas de hoy, el Pacto de Abraham y la Transfigura-ción nos revelan lo mucho que Dios desea nuestro amor, para, y por medio de este, poder otorgarnos la gloria eterna. “Cuando Dios habló con Abraham y le prometió que tendría descendientes tan numerosos como las estrellas en el cielo, Abraham sólo poseía la Palabra de Dios que le daba la seguri-dad de que así sería. Dios también nos habla a nosotros por medio de inspiraciones, y estas nos revelan los misterios de la fe”. Es a través de la fe que llegamos a conocer la Palabra de Dios. Poco a poco y con cuidado Él va fortaleciendo, por medio del amor divino, aquellos corazones que acceden a sus inspiracio-nes. Estas primeras percepciones del amor de Dios son vertidas en nosotros por el Espíritu Santo. Aun así, estos primeros movi-mientos del amor sólo representan el alba de la fe. Son como los capullos verdosos de la primavera. La fe comienza con el amor por las cosas de Dios. La fe nos demuestra que hemos inculcado en nosotros mismos una inclinación, natural y sagra-da, a amar a Dios por sobre todas las cosas. No existe ningún otro amor que pueda satisfacer este deseo. Aun cuando todos poseemos el poder para rechazar la inspira-ción divina, no podemos impedir que Dios nos inspire. Las ins-piraciones son favores que Dios hace mucho antes de que nos percatemos de ellos. Dios nos despierta cuando estamos dormi-dos. Pero de nosotros depende si nos levantamos o no. Aun cuando Dios puede despertarnos sin nuestra ayuda, Él no nos va a levantar sin nuestra cooperación. Debemos dar nuestro consentimiento al llamado de Dios, porque El siempre respeta-rá nuestra libertad. Dios no tiene esclavos, sólo amigos. Es por ello que Nuestro Salvador jamás nos abandona. Somos noso-tros quienes lo abandonamos a Él. Nuestra confesión de fe es el acto de escoger amar y servir a Dios como siervos fieles. Caminen sencilla y fielmente por el camino que Dios ha trazado para ustedes, y caminarán con confianza. ¿POR QUE NO SE CANTA EL “GLORIA” DURANTE LA CUARESMA?

Empecemos con algunas reglas básicas de la liturgia estable-cidas por el Segundo Concilio del Vaticano en su Constitu-ción de la Sagrada Liturgia. El propósito de la liturgia es

servir a la necesidad de adorar a Dios en “plena, activa y consciente participación” (núm. 14). Por lo tanto, los rituales en la misa deben guardar una “noble simplicidad “que esté “dentro de los poderes de comprensión de la gen-te” (núm.34). El desarrollo del año litúrgico con sus festivi-dades y estaciones procura realizar esta tarea, revelando “el misterio total de Cristo” desde la Encarnación hasta el Pen-tecostés a su debido tiempo (núm.102). La iglesia debe enfo-carse particularmente hacia las festividades del Señor que apuntan a la salvación. En otras palabras, un principio fundamental en el ritual es desplegar una escala de magnificencia tal, que les quede cla-ro a los niños más pequeños lo que es realmente más impor-tante dentro del espectro completo de los creencias de la igle-sia. La Resurrección de Jesús en el misterio número uno a celebrar, por lo que es realzado con tres días de intensa litur-gia (el Triduo), una semana completa de solemne conmemo-ración (la Semana Santa), precedida por 40 días de prepara-ción en penitencia (la Cuaresma), sin olvidar cada celebra-ción de la Eucaristía, por supuesto. Junto con la oración, el ayuno y la limosna en preparación para la Pascua, la iglesia también “ayuna” de decir o cantar la palabra Aleluya (en algunas tradiciones incluso se ha "enterrado" la Aleluya" con gran pompa el domingo anterior al Miércoles de Ceniza y se la ha “resucitado” de nuevo en la Pascua), así como de cantar la Gloria. Como lo dijo un per-ceptivo ministro músico: La iglesia no canta estas grandes canciones durante la Cuaresma por la misma razón que la iglesia no canta Jesucristo ha resucitado hoy, sino hasta que llegamos a ese momento en la liturgia. Así como la iglesia se abstiene de cantar la Gloria durante la Cuaresma, sucede durante el Adviento, que es otra gran esta-ción de preparación para un gran misterio, el nacimiento de Jesús en Navidad. No cantamos villancicos navideños duran-te la Cuaresma (¡al menos no en la iglesia!), así como no cantamos la madre de todos los villancicos, la canción de los ángeles, sino hasta entonces. Gloria in Excelsis Deo es la respuesta celestial al glorioso nacimiento de Jesús. Si los ángeles pueden aguardar hasta esa noche santa para cantar-la, supongo que el resto de nosotros puede también. La Gloria es un himno que no puede ser reemplazado por ningún otro durante la misa, como lo estipulan las normas del Misal Romano. Le agrega un “carácter celebratorio” a los Ritos Introductorios que resultan mejor expresados en canto que en recitación, carácter que se incrementa en com-pañía de un gran coro remitiéndonos al momento de su debut. “El canto pertenece a los amantes”, como dijo alguna vez San Agustín. Añorar también pertenece a los amantes por lo que a veces la iglesia reserva una canción hasta que llega su debido tiempo. Lucas 2,14; Colosenses 3,16; Efesios 5,19; Hechos de los Apóstoles 2,46-47
