Cyber Safety

Last week, Minden students participated in an important educational presentation regarding safe online behaviour. Cyber Safety is an important issue for families and children of all ages. To be safe online and to gain the greatest benefit from the opportunities provided through an online environment, students need to do the right thing by themselves and others online. It is essential for parents / carers to know and monitor the sites their child/ren access, particularly social media sites. Does your child fully understand the consequences of the posts they are sending or photos / videos they are uploading? Providing information that identifies someone or their location (such as addresses, phone numbers, and school uniform) can be used in a potentially harmful way.  We appreciate parents’ support in discussing this very serious issue with their children.

DATE CLAIMER!

Minden is celebrating Book Week on Friday 17th August. Children can come dressed as a character from a book to help celebrate this special event. Another option is to come dressed with a 'touch of Book Week', wearing a small part of their character's costume with their school uniform. Children might like to

Page 3: Newsletter 3 August 2018 - mindenss.eq.edu.au€¦  · Web viewMinden is celebrating Book Week ... We will have a short parade for those who have dressed in theme and a fun activity

wear a shiny coloured scale like the Rainbow Fish or a blue pair of socks like Fox in Sox. It would be great if they can bring the book along that contains their character. We will have a short parade for those who have dressed in theme and a fun activity for all children to join in. Stay tuned for more details...
