Venture Quality Goods Will Represent Lafayette at the Annual Small Business Awards When guys go shop- ping for themselves, what are they think- ing? These are the things that keep retail- ers up at night. Leave it to Tom & Rosylyn Stenzel to open up a store that men actu- ally enjoy going to. Venture is a unique store that offers up quality designed and crafted men’s (and woman’s) clothing that are pro- duced here in California. Tom’s years of experience in the apparel industry including a long gig with Levi Strauss helped them understand who their target audience would be. Guys want to be comfortable in a store and in the clothing they wear. The Stenzels have been so creative in their mar- keting and branding and they have embraced many non-traditional ways to appeal to the community. The store is really kid friendly too. Tom and Rosylyn took a leap of faith and opened their store as we were emerging from the recession. Their success is easy to understand when you meet this Lafayette couple and appreciate high quality of their inventory and their store. Congratulations to Venture! A luncheon will be held in their honor along with the recipients of this award from other cities in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties on May 6th. Taste of Lafayette – May 17th

Is it possible that Lafayette has too many restaurants? Have we finally reached a “tipping point?” According to the success of most of our new and existing res-

taurants, the answer is still NO WAY. We welcome Reve Bistro, Bistro Burger and Grill and opening soon Sideboard Neighborhood Kitch-en (in the old Handlebar Toy location on Plaza Way).

Join us on that one spring evening when the sidewalks are filled with diners strolling from restaurant to restaurant tasting the faire from many of our great restaurants that line Restaurant Row. Register online before we sell out, bit.ly/taste 16. A note to retailers between Moraga Blvd. and Mountain View Ave. Consider staying open late on May 20th. Summer Series – Rock the Plaza

We are back this summer with attitude! Join us on Friday evenings in June at Lafayette Plaza (corner of Mt. Dia-blo Blvd. and Moraga Blvd.) from 6:30-8:30pm. Bring a chair, a blanket, and the family. Beginning on Friday June 3 we are proud to have the Allmond Brothers Clan. These guys are pros and if you close your eyes, you’ll swear Dicky Betts is in Lafayette. On June 10th, it’s the Beatles cover band, Tickets to Ride. On June 17th we welcome back The Big Jangle, the Tom Petty Cover Band that fea-tures locals Paul Cortruvo and Kiki Stack. On June 24, we are treated to a whole lot of local talent as the Lamorinda Arts Council presents the 2016 Lamorinda Idol Finalists. The Lafayette Rotary Club will be back with good eats. Put Fridays in June on your calendar. Let’s party like it’s 2016. For more information visit www.lafayettechamber.org
