1.U.S. delays ballistic missile test due to tensions on Korean Peninsula( 朝鲜半岛 )

• WASHINGTON, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The Pentagon( 五角大楼 ) has delayed an intercontinental ballistic missile test planned for next week to avoid misperceptions due to the rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula, local media reported on Saturday.

• The planned Minuteman 3 missile test at the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California will be delayed until sometime next month, so to avoid exacerbating the crisis on the Korean Peninsula, a senior U.S. defense official was quoted as saying.

• The official described the decision as "the logical, prudent （谨慎的） and responsible course of action to take," after the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK 朝鲜民主主义人民共和国 ) threatened to attack the U.S. with "smaller, lighter and diversified" nuclear weapons in reaction to the recent U.S.-South Korean military exercises.

• Following the nuclear test by the DPRK in February, the U.S. responded with economic sanctions （制裁） and a recent show of force of sending nuclear-cable stealth B-2 bombers and F-22 fighters to participate in the military exercises with South Korea.

• The DPRK reacted by cutting off military hotlines with South Korea, declaring a state of war, and threatening to launch a nuclear attack on the U.S. targets.

• A Utah man has unearthed a McDonald's hamburger he bought in 1999 - and the sandwich looks exactly the same as the day it was first flipped.

• David Whipple kept the fast food meal for a month to show friends how the preservative-packed hamburger would keep its composure.

• But he forgot about it, finding it two years later in his coat pocket and then he decided to continue the bizarre experiment.

• However, even he was shocked to see that the hamburger still looks the same a whopping 14 years later.

• 'It wasn't on purpose,' Whipple told TV show 'The Doctors,' of his decision to keep the burger for such a long time.

• ‘I was showing some people how enzymes work and I thought a hamburger would be a good idea. And I used it for a month and then I forgot about it.’
