EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Theme: “Does a woman forget her baby?”
The love of a mother is too strong for her baby. So also, God cares for you and me.
As tenderly…and even more. For our God is a caring God. Hear the words of Jesus in
today’s gospel: “This is why I am telling you not to worry…” “Do not worry…” He
tells us to look at the birds, to look at the flowers in the fields… and see how our Fa-
ther takes care of them, and he asks us: “are you not worth much more than they are?”
Indeed, our God is a caring God. And we are so precious to Him. He sees your needs
and mine better and more clearly than we can. He is concerned about us and our well-
being and our happiness. He does care for our needs more than we know.
But, deep in our hearts, we doubt this and, because we doubt or deny this, we worry.
We worry about money, food and clothing. We worry about how we will be able to
manage this and that. We worry about yesterday, about today and tomorrow.
And all the time, the face of our loving Father looks at us, caring and tender. And He
says gently: “If you only knew; if you only knew how precious you are to me; if you
only knew much I care for you; if you only knew how much I love you, and how im-
portant it is to me that you be happy.”
If we only knew how God cares; then, our hearts would be at peace. Hear the words
of the psalm of today, psalm 61: “In God alone is my soul at rest.” Indeed, no worry-
ing. Rest that brings security, safety, and peace. And the psalm adds: “I stand firm.”
Not moved by doubt or fear, for my caring God is both strong and very loving..

DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PASTOR.
Tema: "¿ Puede una mujer olvidarse de su bebé?”
El amor de una madre es demasiado fuerte para su bebé. Así también, Dios se preocu-
pa por usted y por mí. Como tiernamente ... y aún más. Porque nuestro Dios es un
Dios cuidadoso. Escucha las palabras de Jesús en el evangelio de hoy: "Por eso te
digo que no te preocupes ..." "No te preocupes ..." Nos dice que miremos a los pája-
ros, que veamos las flores en los campos ... y veamos cómo nuestro Padre se ocupa de
ellos, y nos pregunta: "¿no valéis mucho más de lo que son?"
De hecho, nuestro Dios es un Dios que cuida. Y nosotros somos tan preciosos para Él.
Él ve tus necesidades y las mías mejor y más claramente de lo que podemos. Él está
preocupado por nosotros y nuestro bienestar y nuestra felicidad. Él cuida de nuestras
necesidades más de lo que sabemos.
Pero, en lo profundo de nuestros corazones, dudamos de esto y, porque dudamos o
negamos esto, nos preocupamos. Nos preocupamos por el dinero, la comida y la ropa.
Nos preocupa cómo podremos manejar esto y lo otro. Nos preocupamos por ayer, por
hoy y por mañana.
Y todo el tiempo, la cara de nuestro Padre amoroso nos mira, cariñosa y tierna. Y Él
dice suavemente: "Si supieras; Si supieras lo precioso que eres para mí; Si solo supie-
ras mucho te cuido; Si supieras cuánto te amo y cuán importante es para mí que tu
seas feliz.
Si sólo supiéramos cómo te cuida Dios; Entonces, nuestros corazones estarían en paz.
Escucha las palabras del Salmo de hoy, salmo 61: "En Dios solo está mi alma en re
poso." De hecho, no hay preocupación. Descanso que trae seguridad, seguridad y paz.
Y el salmo añade: "Estoy firme". No movido por la duda o el miedo, porque el cariño
de Dios es fuerte y muy amoroso. (Continua a Pág. 3)

Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Communion): Iniciación Cristiana (Bautismo, Confirmación, Comunión):
Adults: Participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA). Infants to age 5: Parents and Godparents participate in Baptism program. Children (Grades 1-12): Participate in Religious Education Program. Please make an appointment to discuss preparation for the sacraments.

Infant baptisms are held once a month in English and once a month in Spanish. Parents must consult with a priest before fixing a date.

Tema; "¿Pueda una mujer olvidarse de su bebé?”
El mismo mensaje que encontramos en la primera lectura. Vea
el ejemplo muy poderoso y también muy humano tomado de
nuestra vida cotidiana: ¿Una mujer olvida a su bebé en el pe-
cho? Sin embargo, aunque lo haga, nunca te olvidaré "
Lamentablemente, a veces las mujeres pueden olvidar. Pero
casi siempre no lo hace, porque no puede. No puede olvidar
preocuparse, porque la vida de su hijo es la vida que trajo al
mundo. Y por eso, día y noche, ese niño llena su corazón y sus
pensamientos. "Sin embargo, incluso si así fuera, nunca te olvi-
daré" Es la promesa de Dios. Él nos ha dado su palabra.
Mis hermanos y hermanas, ¿qué nos pide hoy nuestro Padre?
¿Qué quiere que tú y yo hagamos? "Derrama tus corazones de-
lante de El" Esto es lo que dice el salmo y eso es exactamente
lo que Él quiere que hagamos. "Derrama tus corazones delante
de El", derramadlos, derramad todo lo que está ahí: vuestras
dudas temores, preocupaciones, problemas ... todo lo que os
pesa, todo eso te trae dolor y tristeza.
Cualquiera que sea la situación difícil en la que se encuentre ...
en cualquier peligro en el que se sienta, derrame sus corazones
ante Él. Derrama todo delante de Dios, Dios tu Padre, el Padre
que ama y cuida, el Padre que no te puede olvidar.
Porque tus problemas son también Sus problemas, tu dolor tam-
bién es Suyo, porque Él no puede dejar de cuidar de ti y de mí.
"Nunca te olvidaré". Es la propia palabra de Dios. Es su prome-
sa. ¿Por qué no tomarlo en su palabra? Mientras guardas silen-
cio por unos instantes, escuchamos esas palabras pronunciadas
en las profundidades de cada uno de nosotros.

Theme: “Does a woman forget her baby?”
The very same message we find in the first reading. See
the very powerful and also very human example taken
from our everyday living: “ Does a woman forget her
baby at the breast? Yet even if she should, I will never
forget you. ”
Sadly, at times women can forget. But almost always
she does not, for she cannot. She cannot forget to care,
for that life of her child is the life she brought into the
world. And that is why, day and night, that child fills
her heart and her thoughts. “Yet even if she should, I
will never forget you.” It is God’s own promise. He has
given us His word.
My brothers and sisters, what does our Father ask from
us today? What does He want you and me to do? “Pour
out your hearts before him.” This is what the psalm
says and that is exactly what He wants us to do. “Pour
out your hearts before him.” Pour them out, Pour out all
that is in there: your doubts, fears, worries, problems…
all that weighs you down, all that brings pain and sad-
ness to you.
Whatever difficult situation you find yourself in…
whatever danger you feel yourself in, pour out your
hearts before Him. Pour out all before God, God your
Father, the Father who loves and who cares, the Father
who cannot forget you.
For your problems are also His problems, your pain is
also His, for He cannot stop caring for you and for me.
“I will never forget you. ” It is God’s own word. It is
His promise. Why not take Him at his word? As you
remain silent for a few moments, let us hear those
words spoken in the depths of our each one of us.
