Breakaway Devices in hydrogen station

• During hydrogen charge process to FCV, the hydrogen dispenser and FCV are connected by flexible hydrogen hose. "Breakaway Devices" are used for safe disconnection of FCV from the dispenser without any hydrogen gas leak, in the case of unexpected motion of FCV.

• Required specification of O-ring for breakaway devices*Hydrogen charge time: <3 minutes*Hydrogen Pressure range: 0‐70MPa*Temperature range: -40°C- 85°C (Pre-cool T40)

L18 control factors

The examination is performed by the orthogonal array experiment (L18) to obtain guidelines for the improvement O-ring performance in low temperature.

According to the factorial effect diagram, the polymer class, the plasticizer class and ratio are important.

SN ratios are calculated from the result of the dynamic viscoelastic examination of each rubber material which is made by L18 experiment. 

The specimen with larger SN ratio contrast, shows the wider seal temperature range of high pressure hydrogen.
