    OASIS Educational Foundation: 2014 Fundraiser

    Zena R. Smith

Ive always felt that educationintellectually and spirituallyis the key to a happy, healthy, and successful life. Because I have been blessed, I believe it is my duty to give back, to help all children, especially those who are less fortunate. Being a part of OASIS will allow me to do so.

I feel lucky to be a part of OASIS. Their program willhelp minority students with no means ll the gaps and leverage learning to further their futures.

I believe in the mission of OASIS. I got involved becauseI saw a real need in the community, and Zenas approachto educational support has yielded real results. Im a true believer!

I got involved with OASIS as an investment in my owncommunity. Giving students the power to better themselves will have an immeasurable impact on theirfutures and ours.

I watch too many very able children slip through the cracks simply because the resources are not available to expose them to higher education. OASIS gives themthat opportunity.

I believe all students should have access to aordable tutoring services, especially reading and math. OASIS will be the answer for many.

Everyone deserves to dream big dreams. OASIS helps to cultivate and nurture a student's desire to dream big dreams and know they have the capacity to reach them.

A Message From Our Founder:In life we all dream of being part of something biggerchanging the world, making it a better place for our children. I learned rsthand and at a young age that the path to positive change runs throughthe classroom. Individually, intellectually, and in our communities, a quality education has the power to lead us from dark places and disadvantaged circumstances to brighter, better, and more sustainable futures. As a student success story, a mother, and a lifelong educator, my mission isnt just to get

involved with education, but to solve one of its most serious problems: the achievement gap. It is a sad reality that minority students in America are statistically less likely than their peers to do well in the classroom. These students fall short not because they dont care, but because they often lack the resources to get the education they deserve. That needs to change, and thats why I founded OASIS Educational Foundation, a non-prot organization dedicated to providing the space and resources students need most for those who receive them least. In 2015 OASIS will provide professional tutoring and guidance, free of charge, to three students who demonstrate exceptional nancial need and academic ability. We are ready to launch, but we need your help. Will you join the ght against educational inequality?
