はしがき
English Switchは4技能を統合的に活用しながら英語の基礎を学ぶことができる教科書です。全15ユニット・各ユニット6ページで構成されており、語彙学習やリスニング、文法学習やリーディング、ライティングといった様々な活動を通して実用的な英語を学びます。また、トピックはTOEIC®テストでよく扱われるものを取り上げており、問題形式も一部でTOEICを模してあります。さらに、やさしいけれどもTOEICに頻出する語彙もふんだんに使用されているので、TOEICへの導入としてお使いいただくことも可能です。
各ユニットのダイアログは、アメリカで異なるキャリアを歩む友人同士の若者クリスとミホが、就職してそれぞれの職場で奮闘しながら成長していくストーリーに沿って展開します。ユニットの冒頭でダイアログに登場する重要語彙を確認した後、イラストを使った簡単なリスニングタスクでダイアログの内容を大まかに確認します。ターゲットとなる文法項目を含んだダイアログに続いて、簡単な文法説明(練習問題を含む)があります。ここで基本的な文法のルールを確認した後に、短めのリーディングパッセージを使ったリーディングタスクを行います。各ユニットの最後には、TOEICを意識した語彙力を強化するためのセクションと、英語で簡単な表現をするライティング活動が用意されています。
各ユニットの詳しい構成は次のようになっています。
Key Vocabularyダイアログを理解するために必要な重要語彙を5つ取り上げて意味を確認します。(5分)
Grammar Input & Output文法解説はシンプルで簡単な日本語で書かれています。また、各ユニットのトピックに関連する英文を使った練習問題が用意されているので、トピックと文法項目を結びつけて学ぶことができます。(10~15分)
Dialog Tracking120~150語程度のダイアログを聞いて、イラストを使った質問に答えます。質問の形式はユニットにより異なり、イラストの順番を並べ替えたり、内容に合ったイラストを選んだりします。(5~10分)もう一度ダイアログを聞いて、ターゲットとなる文法項目に関する語句を空所に入れます。(5~10分)ダイアログの内容に関する質問文を聞いて空所を埋めます。その上で、質問に対する答えを選択肢から選びます。(5分)

Short Reading100語程度のパッセージを読んで、学んだ文法事項を活用しながら適切な語句を選択肢から選びます。(5~10分)パッセージの内容に関する3つの質問文を読んで、適切な答えを選択肢から選びます。(5~10分)
Write Way50~80語程度のパッセージを読んで、誤りを訂正したり、空所に適語を書き入れたり、語句を並べ替えて英文を完成させたりします。(5~10分)自分が好きなことや経験したこと、あるいは自分の意見などについてまとまりのある英文を書きます。ヒントが十分に与えられているので、心配せずに取り組むことができます。授業中に時間が取れない場合は宿題にしてもよいでしょう。(10~15分)
Vocabulary Booster各ユニットのトピックに関連するTOEIC頻出語彙を10個取り上げ、意味や発音を確認します。(5分)Aから単語を選んで文中の空所を埋めます。文脈の中で単語を覚えることを意識させます。(5~10分)各ユニットのトピックに関連する語句をゲーム感覚で学びます。文字を並べ替えて単語を完成させたり、イラストに合った語句を選んで答えたりします。(5~10分)
