Stavropol State Medical University was founded in 1938. University graduates work in every corner of our country,
they head the departments in the alma mater and other universities, are the leaders of health institutions and research
institutes. For all years of its existence StSMU trained more than 31,000 doctors.
Unique to the South of Russia, Center of practical skills, equipped with the latest technology gives the opportunity
for students to work with the phantoms and dummies of expert class. The clinical training of students takes place on
the basis of 28 medical institutions of Stavropol, its own clinical departments: Eye Microsurgery Clinic, Border States
Clinic, Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Clinic, as well as dental clinics. In the course of practical training
the future doctors comprehend all the minutest details of the profession.

Four StSMU buildings are equipped with modern training and medical equipment, computer class-rooms, electronic library. Research is one of the components of learn-ing and the opportunity for students to discover the prospects for future career growth. The most important element of the infrastructure of the university is a Center of scientific and innovative development, which consists of six laboratories. To date, the university has developed several scientific schools: surgical, gastroenterology, infectious dis-ease specialists, otolaryngologists, psychiatrists and clinical psychol-ogists, pharmacologists. Many de-partments have scientific societies in which you can realize yourself as a young scientist of our university, and possibly win the competition and get a grant to bring your ideas to life.
If you want to become a doctor, it does not mean you have to forget about your hobbies. At our university it is possible to combine it very easily!
In the university you can do vo-cals, performing arts, dance, folk-lore, play KVN team, become a vol-unteer or to prove yourselves in the sport. StSMU has a 25-meter long swimming pool, two gyms, three training rooms, outdoor basketball court.
The students are provided with places in hostels (they are 4 in the university). Furnished rooms are designed for 2-3 people; kitchens are equipped with all necessary equipment.

General Medicine is a field of medi-
cine that covers the health problems of
people of 18 years of age or older, ex-
cept for dentistry.
Faculty trains doctors for medical
care of the adult population in various
areas.
Undergraduates can learn the disci-
plines of obstetrics, gynecology, neu-
rology, urology, traumatology, der-
matovenereology, otolaryngology,
ophthalmology, phthisiology, psychi-
atry, clinical pharmacology, forensic
medicine, physical therapy, which will
help you later decide on a specialization.

Pediatric service covers all child pop-
ulation aged from birth to 18 years. The

except for dentistry.
In the third year you will start to
study children and internal medicine

In 1961, Stavropol State Medical University started admitting foreign students and since that time more than 1700 physicians, residents and fellows from 82 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America have graduated from the University.
Stavropol State Medical University is one of the few Russian medical universities recognized by the Medical Council of India. The University is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools published by the World Health Organization (WHO) which enables our graduates to hold a job in any country of the world after taking national examinations.
Our graduates work in different places of the world; they are the trademark of the Faculty. Many of them head scien-tific research institutes, laboratories, faculties and higher school chairs.
Nowadays, more than 500 foreign students from 34 countries of the world are trained at three faculties of the Uni-versity: General Medicine, Pediatrics and Dentistry. There are the Preparatory Courses, too. The post-diploma training is a fellowship program, due to which graduates can improve their theoretical and practical skills; it plays a great role in the improvement of skills of physicians.
English-speaking foreign students are taught in English that enables them to begin studies without preliminary training at the Preparatory Courses.
The foreign students are encouraged to participate in different research projects, working within the “Students and Young Researchers Society” showing their results at annual conferences and often winning prizes in all-Russian or international fora.
The University has all conditions necessary for successful acquiring of medical knowledge. The foreign students in-dividually perform laboratory and clinical tests and take advantage of modern learning technologies. With transition to the general practitioners’ training, they spend more time in the outpatients’ departments where they get acquainted with the work of healthcare organization, see patients, learn emergency medicine and assist in various diagnostic pro-cedures.

Application deadline
Admission of documents for the first year begins on June 19, 2015.
Admission of documents for the first year of training in full-time education ends:
• for those who enter the univer-sity by the results of entrance examinations conducted by the University independently, – July 10, 2015;
• for those entering the university just by the results of the General State Exam – July 25, 2015;
• for Russian-speaking foreign students – July 25, 2015;
• for English-speaking foreign stu-dents – September 30, 2015.
Admission of documents for enter-ing the second and subsequent years of study at the University, as well as dis-tance learning, begins on June 19 and ends on August 21, 2015.
List of documents required for admission of foreign students• an application for admission;• personal particulars;• original of Secondary Education Certificate (equal to A-level with the grades by Biology, Physics, Chemistry) and its verified copy. (Note
that educational certificate has to be officially translated into Russian language, verified and notarized in the Russian Embassy or Con-sulate in the native country of the applicant);
• a health certificate (about physical and mental fitness, -ТВ, STD, HIV, absence of drug and alcohol abuse, list of vaccination, results of AIDS test) signed and sealed by the district or family doctor;
• 12 photos of size 3×4 cm;• valid passport with the Russian entrance visa and immigration card (to be registered during 3 days after arrival in the Visa Service De-
partment of the University).
IMPORTANT!Nostrification of documents should be lead in the Federal Service on Supervision in Ed-ucation and Science (Moscow).The foreign citizens admitting on a quota submit the original of the Direction.All translations into Russian should be exe-cuted according to the name and surname specified in the entrance visa.

Small Medical Academy
Since 2010, for all schoolchildren StSMU has opened Small Medical Acad-emy, created by the decision of the Ac-ademic Council. Training in SMA is an opportunity for schoolchildren of the 9-11 grades to get acquainted with the medical profession and to acquire the skills of research activities, meet with prominent scientists, clinicians, learn about the past and the future of med-icine, visit the departments and muse-ums of StSMU, adapt to training condi-tions in high school. Training in SMA is free of charge for all schoolchildren.
The medical profession has very serious requirements to those who have decided to devote
his life to medicine. Besides, a huge amount of complex educational material that will develop
from the very first days of the study implies that you need to have a sound and deep knowledge of the
core subjects. To help future entrants in their quest to become students of the Medical University is the
main task of the Faculty of secondary vocational and pre-university education of StSMU.
Preparatory courses
In addition to SMA, the University admits schoolchildren to the training courses of the Faculty of Pre-University Education, which can help you to enroll in the University on ba-sic subjects: chemistry, biology and Russian.
You can choose subjects of study. Follow-ing the results a mock exam is held (in a form of the General State Exam, or in a traditional form), which is not the entrance examina-tions to StSMU.
Training at the preparatory courses is paid. Students are offered a choice of forms of training with different terms.
There are up to 15 people in each groups, in «Private Tutor» groups – 3-5 persons.
