Prologue

In the late 1990s, the issue of European Union

reorganization caused a stir across Europe.

Paul-Henri Spaak, a Belgian statesman, claimed

that the EU headquarters should not be

established in any powerful nation for political

reasons and set up the EU headquarters in

Brussels, winning over Germany, France and

England. Most Belgians believe that the

establishment of the EU headquarters will bring

vitality to the economy with the influx of capital

and grant the country a greater say in politics

among European nations.

“The Association of Southeast Asian Nations,

Japan, China, Korea and Taiwan, all together

account for 25% of the international economy. The

1. The Background and Purpose of Holing the Forum

1) The Purpose of Holding the AECF

From the social pointof view

The Surge of Asia

in the 21st Century

With the surge of China, finding Korea’s own way between Japan and China to stimulate

the national economy and promoting the active participation of America and Japan

have led to the Asian Davos Forum, which benchmarked

the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) in China and the Davos Forum in Switzerland.

From the economic pointof view

From the political pointof view

Formation of the Asia Economic Community has become essential as a long-term

countermeasure to address the global trends of regionalism and

block formation

As a pioneer leading the Asia Economic Community,

Korea will play a pivotal role and become a center of Asian regional integration,

proposing solutions and future directions through in-depth study of Asia and world economic

trends.

Lay a foundation to develop Incheon from the hub of Northeast Asia to the hub of Asia as a whole by holding the 2010 G20 Summit related meeting in Songdo, the

2014 Asian Games and Global Fair and Festival 2009.

Hold the Forum on a regular basis in order to raise the status of Incheon,

a distribution and business center with Incheon International Airport and the

Free Economic Zone of Northeast Asia.Rebrand Incheon as the 'Brussels' of Asia by

establishing the headquarters of Asia Economic Community in the city.

2. The Emblem

ColorColor

ConceptConcept

LayoutLayoutAs Jean Monnet, father of the European Union, said that the union should be the integration not of nations

but of peoples, this emblem expresses the configuration of 10 people, symbolizing “So many people, so

many minds,” gathered hand in hand surrounding a round table symbolizing equality.

Five traditional colors of Korea (yellow, blue, white, red and black) express five regional varieties of Asia

(North East Asia, South East Asia, Central Asia, South Asia and West Asia) while integrating all Asia as one.

The configuration of 10 people, symbolizing “So many people, so many minds,” gathered hand in hand

surrounding a round table symbolizing equality signifies that a variety of Asians gather to cooperate for

the peace and future of Asia.
