OpenSolaris 2009.06 cung cấp mạng ảo, công cụ quản lý Crossbow và HA cho nhân viên quản lý, nâng cao khả năng quan sát IP, cổng iSCSI cho COMSTAR, tăng cường khảnăng tương tác với Windows và tối Ưu Socket.

Đối với người dùng máy tính phổ thông, OpenSolaris 2009.06 bổ sung thêm Firefox 3.1 Beta 3, trong Time Slider còn có chức năng chụp nhanh, trung tâm Multimedia Codeina và Elisa, quản lý file, cải thiện hỗ ứỢ phẩn cứng, hoàn toàn hỗ ttỢ cấu trúc SPARC, Nehalem và MTXT
