Masses will continue to be Live-Streamed be-cause the Covid-19 crisis is not over yet. We must

keep praying for protection and do everything right to avoid it coming back stronger than ever. I would request as many as possible to wear a mask while they are in the chapel for Mass. It will pro-

tect both ourselves and others.

For the next few weeks, at least, Holy Commun-ion will be distributed after the final blessing of

the Mass so that you can leave chapel then.

through the parochial house letterbox, as many of you are doing or you may

Also for the near future for the safety of everybody coming to Mass and to prevent as well as

we can the Covid-19 spreading in our community there will be no offertory baskets passed

around at Mass. There are boxes and baskets here and there around the chapel. Please use

these to make your donation to help keep the parish up as well as we can, and thank you very

Mass for Older Parishoners

Many of the older members of our parish may be nerv-

ous about venturing out to Mass again. If you feel in

any way vulnerable or have any underlying condition

don’t come - especially on Saturday evening or Sunday

morning. Please be assured that if you would like to

come to Mass any day during the week it will be the

same as coming to Sunday Mass. Friday will be the

special day for older people coming to Mass.

Commentary on Matthew 11: 25-30

THERE ARE TWO APPARENTLY contradictory sides to the

Gospel. On the one hand, there are very radical demands made

on us in the following of Jesus. An example of these ‘hard say-

ings’ was the Gospel of last Sunday. “Anyone who prefers fa-

ther or mother… son or daughter to me is not worthy of me

etc” Before deciding to become a disciple of Christ, we must

sit down and count the cost of following Jesus. Yet that passage

from Luke is followed immediately by chapter 15 and the three stories of God’s

longing to bring back the sinner: the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost

(prodigal) son. In other words, another side of the Gospel speaks with equal em-

phasis of God’s warmth, compassion and his desire for reconciliation with the

weak and the sinful. The theme of today’s readings is very much one of peace and

consolation. Whatever demands Jesus may make on our following of him, he

wants to be at all times truly a source of comfort, of consolation and of forgive-

ness and reconciliation. When in difficulty or pain we can always turn to him.

Getting back to Mass:- Thank God we have Masses with congregations back once again and

long may that last. Please keep in mind that coming to Mass any day during the week will fulfil

your Sunday obligation. You are urged to wash your hands before leaving home, to use the sani-

tizers near the chapel doors and sit a distance apart from each other unless you are there as a fam-

ily group, and try to wear a mask while in the chapel. Please use all the space in the chapels—except Gallery.

Some seats will be cordoned off and only about 3 or so will be allowed in each seat. But families can sit to-

gether. No more than 50 are allowed by the Government (this may change) to be in the chapels, although

we can safely seat more. Disinfectant and towels are available around the chapel. Please use these to clean

where you have been sitting before you leave the chapel and drop in bins provided. Thank you very much.

door handles because the virus lingers

longer on metal.

Communion Calls: I would like to do the July Calls next Wednesday July 8th. However, if any of those I call with

would prefer me not to visit yet, please let me know. Otherwise I will call at about the usual time.
