What is OHSAS 18001?

OHSAS 18001 is an Occupational Health & Safety(OH&S) Management System

• OH&S management system

 –  part of an organization's (3.17) management system usedto develop and implement its OH&S policy (3.16) and

manage its OH&S risks (3.21)  –  NOTE 1 A management system is a set of interrelated

elements used to establish policy and objectives and toachieve those objectives.

 –  NOTE 2 A management system includes organizationalstructure, planning activities (including for example, risk

assessment and the setting of objectives), responsibilities,practices, procedures (3.19), processes and resources.

 –  NOTE 3 Adapted from ISO 14001:2004, 3.8.

CONCLUSION

OHSAS 18001’s certification have been widelyadopted in different industries in both public and

private sectors.

To maintain business relationship with buyer.

To seek for IMS’s certification, instead of single

standard against OHSAS 18001. More and more ABs have launch the OHSAS 18001’s

accreditation in the market, hence the OHSAS 18001’scertification should be under better control in future.
