多溴二苯醚(PBDE S)是一種環境荷爾蒙，會透過食物鏈進入體內，有國內學者(毛義方教授)進行食品(國內)檢測發現，食品中以肉類濃度最高，如長期累積，恐會干擾甲狀腺素分泌，也會引起生殖毒性，並有致癌的風險。環境中PBDE S來源為生活用品(電子電器, 塑膠, 紡織品, 建材)中的添加物，由於其有阻燃特性與價格便宜，所以被大量使用，由於當時對於其危害認知有限，沒有進行管控，造成這類廢棄物汙染水源, 空氣, 土壤，並因此進入食物鏈中。
