Beth and Travis both grew up on successful purebred livestock operations and showed cattle in their youth. Beth’s family had a large herd of Limousin cattle in Kentucky, while Travis’s family raised registered Angus in Oklahoma. Ironically, they met while at a cattle

show and in 1997 the couple was married.  Soon after they moved back to Oklahoma to start assembling their own cowherd when fourth generation family land became available. In addition to starting their own cowherd, they also fixed up a couple of old barns and started specializing in custom cattle fitting. The custom cattle fitting business really took off for them, and at one point they were getting 80 head of cattle ready for sales and shows from different operations around the country.

One thing lead to another for the eager couple and with their cowherd flourishing, opportunities to sell a few private treaty Angus heifers came along. Over the years, the more customers they accumulated from private treaty sales lead them into having some of their current annual sales. These sales include the PCC Annual Online Angus Sale, Red Dirt Divas Sale, and a fall and spring Limited Edition Sale where they sell many other breeds other than Angus. Many national champions have arisen from Pembrook Cattle Company over the years.

They accredit that success to three major focal points:

1. People“We have been blessed from day one to be surrounded by great and generous people. We have a great family that has always been involved with what we have going on. We have also been fortunate to work for and learn from some of the greatest people in the industry. We have also had some of the best help you can ever ask for.  This goes for the people that help prepare the cattle, to the people that put together advertising, and those who come and picture and video the livestock. It seems like everyone around us likes and takes a great amount of pride in what they do.” –Travis Pembrook

2. Hard Work“We have been blessed with having cattle win at all levels over the years.  Each time it is fun and unique in its own way. With custom fitting, it is great to celebrate success with the owners and breeders of the cattle. Success with the cattle we raise, sell, or buy has it’s own set of rewards as well.” –Travis Pembrook

  3. DiversityOver the years PCC has raised and sold Limousin, Gelbvieh, Angus, Charolais, Simmental, Shorthorn, Maine-Anjou, and Chianina cattle. They have exhibited many National Champions in multiple breeds because they strive to offer high quality cattle, excellent customer service, and a reputation of integrity. The most rewarding thing about the cattle industry for the Pembrook's is the friendships they have made over the years. Whether it be their customers or people who help them on a daily basis, the highs and lows

have created extremely tight and lasting friendships. Beth and Travis also enjoy way of life that comes from working in the cattle industry, because they are able to spend quality time with their children while at work.

“Where else can you get a job like that?”

– Travis Pembrook

8. You spend all summer with them in the barn.

Summer is a time of hard work and dedication for stock show kids. Most of their time is spent in the barn getting the livestock ready for the next show. However, if your animal is your best friend its not uncommon to spend time taking naps with them. Bailey Rist from Indiana catches a little shuteye in the barn with her show steer/stellar friend.

7. You can always talk to them when you can't talk to anyone else.

A best friend is someone you can always trust that to tell anything to, yet won't pass on judgment.  Who ever said your best friend has to be human? This photo captured by KR Images shows just how much love, trust, and affection Claire Bobell from Illinois has for her showpig/pal.

6. They see you looking your worst, and your best, but still love your regardless

From early mornings when you’re half asleep and have bed head to looking calm, collected and classy in the show ring, your animals love you regardless of how you look. All livestock enthusiasts can relate to this photo!!

5. During school hours, the only thing you can think about is getting home to spend time with them in the barn.

Although not always appreciated or approved by teachers, stock show kids can't help but doodle their best friends while board in class. Chase Rodgers of Indiana doodles his sheep/sidekick while he’s in Chemistry class.

4. Your annual family vacations are spent at a livestock show, entirely dedicated to your show animal.

Whether your family spends their vacation at the World Pork Expo, a Jr. National Cattle show or the state fair, you vacation always revolves around livestock. Let's face it, your show animals double as friends and family. Lydell Meier and his daughter from Tennessee work together to fit a heifer in this photo captured by Heidi Anderson.

2. It is perfectly acceptable for them to lick you... or pick their nose in front of you.

If a human friend licked you or put their tongue in their nose you would be mortified, but because your best friend is a baby calf it's no big deal. Kai Thompson of South Dakota and his calf companion are all smiles in this photo taken by Heidi Anderson.

1. You help make each other's dreams come true!

Whether you show rabbits poultry, hogs, cattle or goats, you and your animal have to work together to accomplish your dreams. Success in a show ring is the result of small efforts made every day with your best friend. The Leatherwood Family from Texas congratulates each other after their companion was named a champion at the 2014 Houston Livestock Show in this photo from ShowChampions Photography.
