What is the teacher doing? She is introducing a girl to the other children.
The girl is a new student. Her name is Ali. Can you guess where she is from?
She is from India. Do you know where India is?
What is Ali doing? She waves her hand. She is greeting the children in the classroom.
But... How do they look? They don't smile at her. Do you know why?
Is it because her skin color is different? Is it just because she is 'new'?

It is time to go home. Everyone is on the school bus. Ali asks Lisa if she can sit next to her.
But Lisa doesn't want to sit with Ali. Ali ends up sitting alone. How does she look?
How would you feel if you were Ali?
Do you recognize this little girl? She is Lisa. Why she is in bed. She is sick. She has the chicken pox.
Lisa's mom is feeling Lisa's forehead to see if she has a fever. Lisa goes to see a doctor.
Chicken pox is contagious so Lisa cannot go to school. Lisa stays at home all day long.
She sleeps, watches TV, and reads. She looks very bored. Now she is better and she can go to school.
Lisa still has red spots on her face so her friends do not want to play with her.
They are afraid of catching whatever it is they think Lisa has. It is playtime. But Lisa does not play.
Who is looking at Lisa? Ali is looking at Lisa. Why is Ali looking at Lisa?
What is Ali saying to Lisa? She is asking if Lisa wants to play with her.
Do you think Lisa wants to play with Ali? No one wanted to play with Lisa.
Lisa can understand how Ali felt when Ali was alone. So Lisa says sorry to Ali.
Ali and Lisa are making something. What is Ali holding in her hand? It is a heart.
Lisa is making a heart, too. Look at Lisa. She is smiling. Ali and Lisa look very happy.

▶ Game Activity 1 [ Monster Game ]
활동목표 : Can I play with you? 문장의 의미를 알고 말해본다.
준 비 물 : 동물 mask 1개(또는 머리띠), 벨
활동방법 :
1) 아이들을 교실 한쪽에 세우고 반대편에 벨을 둔다.
2) 교사는 교실의 중간쯤에 서고 몬스터의 역할을 한다.
3) 아이들은 몬스터에게 질문을 한다. “Can I play with you?"
4) 교사가 OK. 대답하면 아이들은 한 걸음 앞으로 올 수 있다.
교사가 No, I don't want to play with you! 라고 대답하면
아이들은 재빨리 원래 자리로 도망간다.
5) 교사는 아이들을 잡으러 갈 수 있지만 safe zone에 가면 잡을 수 없다.
6) 아이들이 질문을 계속하여 반대편의 종 가까이 가서 종을 치면 게임이 끝난다.
* yes, no 의 대답을 적절히 섞어 아이들이 질문하며 즐겁게 게임을 할 수 있도록 한다.
T : Today, we will play a monster game.

활동방법 :
1) 아이들은 동그랗게 앉아 그림책의 노래를 부르면서
공을 옆 사람에게 전달한다.
2) 음악이 멈추면 공을 가진 친구는 앞으로 나온다.
3) 나온 아이에게 Do you want to play with me? 하고 묻는다.
4) 아이는 주머니에서 카드를 한 장 골라 카드에 맞게 대답한다.
Yes 카드면 Yes, I want to play with you. 하고 답하고 다시 원 안으로 들어가서 계속 놀이를 진행한다.
No 카드면 No, I don't want to play with you. 하고 원 안에 앉아서 Yes/No 카드를 들고 교사의 역할을 한다.
5) 같은 방식으로 게임을 계속 진행하고 다른 유아가 No 카드를 다시 뽑으면 이전에 No 카드를 뽑은 유아와 역할을
서로 교체한다.
T : Let's make a big circle and sit in a circle.
S : (원을 만든다.)

▶ Game Activity 1 [ Pull the Towel ]
활동목표 : Can I play with you? 문장을 말해본다.
준 비 물 : towel
활동방법 :
1) 아이 한 명을 나오게 하여 같이 게임을 할 친구를 고르고
Can I play with you?하고 묻게 한다.
2) 지명을 받은 유아는 Yes, I can play with you. 하고 답을 한 후 앞으로 나온다.
3) 나온 2명은 서로 등을 돌리고 다리를 벌리고 서게 한다.
4) 아이들 사이에는 수건을 길게 늘어놓는다.
5) 교사의 신호에 맞추어 허리를 숙여 먼저 수건을 잡아당기는 사람이 이기게 된다.
* 나온 유아 2명이 서로 약간 가까이 등을 마주대면 수건을 못 잡은 한 명은 넘어지게 되어 있다.
위험하지 않도록 주의하면서 게임을 진행한다.
T : I need one player to start the game.
S1 : (앞으로 나온다.)
T : Who do you want to play with? Go ask her/him “Can I play with you?"

준 비 물 : 동사와 폭탄 그림 여러 개 (그림자료 첨부), 주머니
활동방법 :
1) 주머니에 여러 가지 동사 그림카드를 인원수대로 넣고
폭탄 그림도 3~4개 넣어 놓는다.
2) 두 팀으로 나누고 팀 별로 주머니에서 한명씩 카드를 꺼내어 문장을 말하게 한다.
3) 그림을 보고 문장을 말하면 카드를 가지고 점수를 얻는다.
4) 폭탄을 꺼내면 해당 유아에게 재미난 벌칙을 주고 팀이 활동시간은 끝난다.
5) 다른 팀이 다시 게임을 시작하고 다시 폭탄이 나오면 게임이 끝난다.
6) 더 많은 카드(점수)를 가진 팀이 이기게 된다.
T : What are the children doing? They are playing with blocks. Let's say “Can I play with you?"

활동목표 : 사과를 하고 사과를 받아주는 표현을 말해본다.
준 비 물 : 뿅망치 1개
활동방법 :
1) 아이 두 명을 나오게 한다. 서로 마주 보게 하고 한 명에게는 뿅망치를 준다.
2) 뿅망치를 든 사람이 참참참!을 외친 후 뿅망치로 오른쪽/왼쪽으로 움직이면
상대방은 동시에 고개를 돌린다.
3) 같은 방향으로 고개를 움직였으면 뿅망치를 가진 유아가 뿅망치로 엉덩이를 살짝 치며 I'm sorry. 하고 말한다.
상대방은 That's okay. 하고 말한다.
4) 1번 진행 후에는 고개를 돌린 유가가 뿅망치를 들고 한 번 더 게임을 진행한다.
T : I need two players.
S1,2: (손을 든다.)
T : First, OO will go first. Here is a toy hammer.
S1: Thank you.

2) 나머지 아이들 중 한명이 나와 등을 두드리고 Do you want to play with me? 말하고 자리로 들어간다.
3) 술래는 눈을 감은 채 듣기만 한다.
4) 술래는 목소리로 어떤 친구가 나와서 말했었는지 이름을 말해야 한다.
5) 맞게 말하면 해당 유아가 다시 술래가 된다. 틀리게 말하면 다시 술래가 되거나 다른 술래를 다시 뽑는다.
T : OO, you will be ‘It.’ Cover your eyes with an eye patch and sit down. You should not look back.

▶ Game Activity 1 [ What Can You Do? ]
활동목표 : 파닉스 단어의 의미를 알고 읽을 수 있다.
준 비 물 : 파닉스 그림 카드
활동방법 :
1) spin, swim, skip, stop, snake, skunk 의 각각의 동작을 같이 연습 해 본다.
2) 교사가 동작을 취하면 단어를 말한다.
3) 교사가 단어카드를 제시하면 단어를 읽고 정해진 동작을 한다.
4) 그림으로 되어있는 카드를 보여주며 연습하다가 익숙해지면 단어만 있는 면을 제시하여 동작을 해 볼 수 있다.
* 순서를 빠르게 하거나 느리게 하여 재미를 줄 수 있다.
T : Let's say the words with motion. (동작을 보여주며) Guess what it is.
S : Snake/Skunk.....
T : Remember the motions that I showed you.
S : Yes.
T : I will show you a card.
You have to do the motion that matches the word. Okay?

활동방법 :
1) spin, swim, skip, stop, snake, skunk 의 동작을 정한다.
2) 아이들을 모두 일어서게 한다.
3) 다 같이 What can you do? (clap, clap) 문장을 외치고 손뼉을 두 번 친다.
4) 모두 파닉스 단어 하나를 말하고 그 단어의 동작을 취한다.
5) 교사와 같은 동작을 한 친구는 아웃된다. 나머지 친구들로 계속 진행한다.
6) 아이들은 무의식중에 교사의 동작을 따라 하기 때문에 같은 동작을 하면 아웃이 된다.
T : Let's stand up and say the words with motions.

S : 이렇게요.

준 비 물 : flash card, post-it
활동방법 :
1) 파닉스 카드의 뒷면에 숫자(점수)를 적은 포스트잇을 붙인다. 한 장의 포스트잇에는 monster를 그리거나 적어둔다.
2) 아이들을 세 팀으로 나눈다.
3) 각 팀에서 한 명씩 나와 번갈아 가며 카드를 골라 읽는다.
4) 읽은 카드의 뒷면 포스트잇을 확인한다. 포스트잇의 숫자만큼 점수를 얻는다.
5) 뒷면에 몬스터 포스트잇이 붙은 카드를 읽으면 원래의 점수를 잃는다. (또는 다른 두 팀의 점수 가져오기)
6) 점수를 더 많이 얻은 팀이 이긴다.

2) 두발로 딛는 단어에서는 blend sound를 말하게 한다.

▶ Extra Activity 1 [ Let's Go to Lisa ]
활동목표 : Can I play with you? 문장을 말해본다.
준 비 물 : 알리와 리사 그림, 동사 주사위, Yes/No 주사위,
보드판 또는 칠판에 길 그림 그리기
활동방법 :
1) 알리와 리사를 칠판에 붙이고 가운데 길을 만든다.
2) 동사 주사위를 굴려서 "Can I -- with you?" 문장을 말한다.
3) Yes/No 주사위를 굴려서 Yes가 나오면
“Yes, I want to play with you.” 하고 말하고
알리를 앞으로 한 칸 이동한다.
4) No가 나온 경우 “No, I don't want to play with you." 하고
말한 후 뒤로 한 칸 물러난다.
5) 알리가 리사 앞으로 가면 게임이 끝난다.
* 알리와 리사 사이를 너무 멀리 할 경우 게임이 안 끝날 수 있으므로 주의한다.
알리 그림은 가운데 놓아야 No가 많이 나올 경우를 대비할 수 있다.
T : Ali wants to go to Lisa. Can you help Ali go to Lisa?
S : Yes.
T : Roll the die. What came up? / What did you roll?
S : Play.
T : Let's say "Can I play with you?"
S : Can I play with you?
T : Can Lisa play with Ali? Who wants to roll the die?

활동목표 : 논픽션북 또는 파닉스북의 주요 단어를 말할 수 있다.
준 비 물 : 논픽션북 또는 파닉스북의 주요 단어 그림
활동방법
1) 아이들을 두 줄로 세우고 마주보고 앉아 다리를 앞으로 쭉 펴서 발바닥이 닿도록 한다.
아이들의 다리가 인간 Bridge가 된다.
2) 사다리 역할을 제외한 아이 두 명이 나와 손을 잡고 사다리를 건넌다.
3) 건너는 동안 교사가 제시한 카드의 문장을 말하게 한다.
교사가 음식 카드를 제시했다면 Can I eat with you? 문장을 말하며 건넌다.
다리 역할 친구의 다리를 밞거나 뛰지 않도록 충분히 주의를 준다.
4) 다 건너면 앉아서 다리 역할을 한다.
T : Make two lines, please.

Stretch your legs out in front so that the soles of your feet face each other.
