Pre Reading
- Making Connection
1)Look and Say Activity:review vocabulary about sports
2)Ask students what their favorite sports are (turn to talk)
- Introduce the book name and the cover page 老师:这本书的名字是“西蒙.拜尔斯”,是这个女孩的名字,这一页是“封面页”
- Invite students to look at the cover page, talk about what they see and think, and predict if it is real story or make up story in the book 老师说:“同学们,请看看封面,你看到了什么?你想到了什么?你 觉得这是一个怎样的故事?这个女孩从哪里来?她的工作是什么?她开心吗?” 学生做 look,think,pair and share
While Reading
- Picture Walk
1)Share expectation before the picture walk while teacher points to the questions anchor chart
Read Aloud Lesson Plan in 2nd Grade老师说:“同学分享得很好,我现在要请大家看一看书的插图和文字,请你们想一想你看到了什么?你想到了什么?你的提 问是什么?)
2)Students look at the pictures and texts while teacher turns page by page silently,they may observe and find out some more details or features of the pages (i.e. Some nonfiction text features- real story,glossary etc)
3) Discuss with students about their findings and students must use at least 3 sentences to talk about what they see,think and wonder- think pair share/picture clues/revisit the pictures or the part of the text
-1st Read aloud
1)use biography graphic organizer to help students understand the text (Teacher introduces the new graphic organizer and say,”同学们观察得很好,还能分享自己看到的,想到的和提出自己的 问题, 现在老师要给你们读一读整个故事,但是我想和你们同时玩一个“找一找”的游戏,故事里有谁,小时候是怎样的?和什么家人一起生活? 长大后做什么?有什么贡献呢?” Students listen and get ready for listening to 1st read aloud while using the timeline graphic organizer on the big chart paper)
2)After 1st read aloud, teacher and students cooperate to do ask and answer questions about the text using biography anchor chart, teacher records students’ talk on the bobbles using keywords
After Reading
Prompt students to retell the story using graphic organizer
