Pocahontas is one of 55 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (counties) in WestVirginia. It is not part of a metropolitan area. Its 2014 population of 8,662ranked 48th in the state.

Per Capita Personal IncomeIn 2014, Pocahontas had a per capita personal income (PCPI) of $33,690.This PCPI ranked 21st in the state and was 93 percent of the state average,$36,132, and 73 percent of the national average, $46,049.
