JOINING THE COMENIUS PROJECT

Everything began

when we received an e-

mail from Spanish, in

which they asked us if

we would like to join a

project under the EU`s

Comenius program .

The title of this project

was very interesting for

us “European Musial

Portfolio” because mu-

sic always plays very

important role in our

school. We happily

agreed and decided to

join it. I must say that

our cooperation with

the Spanish coordinator

was very good. There

were a lot of things to

discuss and carry out a

lot of paper work.

Soon we could an-

nounced that our school

as the first one in Prud-

nik District launched an

European partnership

project under the EU`s

Comenius educational

program “Lifelong

Learning”.

The project is realized

two years 2010-2012

with five other coun-

tries: Spain, Italy, Tur-

key, Romania and

Wales.

We are aware that espe-

cially for younger

learners music play fun-

damental role on cogni-

tive, physical and sensi-

tive development. This

project gives the oppor-

tunity both the students

and teachers to experi-

ence music in many dif-

ferent ways and ac-

quainted with the cul-

ture of participating

countries.

We hope that working

on this project with be

unforgettable adventure

for all of us.

It was founded in September

1945 in very difficult time just

after the II World War. The

working conditions were really

poor, there were 123 students at

different age and only two

teachers. From that time it has

changed a lot. Our school build-

ing is modern, classrooms are

equipped with newest technological in-

ventions. We are happy to attend to this

school. For this occasion teachers and stu-

dents prepared a lot of interesting activi-

ties such as: dancing show, the concert of

traditional Polish songs and many others.

their live. Such knowl-

edge is very important if

we want to help our chil-

dren. Our pupils have

possibility to attend vari-

ous kinds of after school

activities., e.g. sports

classes, drama groups,

art club, music club, etc.

Thus, children can ex-

press themselves in

many different ways: in

art, music, poetry, sports etc

I would like

to present a

very special

school which

is situated in

a small vil-

lage –

Moszczanka,

in the west-

ern part of

Poland. Our

school is

small in size but it is very

big in its achievements. All

these achievements are pos-

sible because wonderful and

unusual pupils and teachers

are there. Our teaching and

learning is inspired by Ce-

lestyn Freinet`s pedagogy.

His ideas, techniques and

methods help us to be better

teachers and develop our pu-

pils skills in many different

ways. We are lucky because,

an average, there are about

15 students in each class, so

we know our pupils very

well. We know their inter-

ests, hobbies, talents, fami-

lies and society in which

To familiarize our stu-

decided to prepare the

class project. There are

only six classes in our

school so each of the

class chose one country

and tried to find as many

interesting things about it

as possible. When the

project was ready there

was a big presentation. In this way our stu-

dents improve their knowledge about Spain,

Italy, Romania, Wales and Turkey. They had

In October 2010 we had a first study visit in Spain. During working hours we

presented our schools and planned the

further work. In free time we visited

many interesting places. It was our

first close contact with this beautiful

country and lovely people living there.

The school year

2010/2011 was an-

nounced at our

school “The year

In May we had a pleasure to host teachers and students participating in the Comenius

project. The main purpose of the visit was to learn national dances and folklore of

partners` countries. Our students were playing the role of the guides showing school to

our guests. Students from Turkey were living

with Polish families for a few days to have op-

portunity to improve their language skills, learn

about the culture and habits of their peers.

Guests had the

opportunity to

see publications,

films and Power

Point presentations connected with various activities or-

ganized at school and also to develop free form of artistic expression. During the

working meetings each of the partners presented the national dances, which children

learn at school and the folklore of their coun-

try. We invited our guests to Cracow- one of the

most beautiful city in Poland. Our Italian friends

made a surprise and prepared very tasty pasta for

lunch.

At the same time

as we visited our

we held an event

music and movement presented different stages of

human life. Our guests

also took part in the

great painting and writ-

imagination".

At the playground parents with

teachers prepared a picnic where

everyone had the opportunity to

learn about Polish cuisine and try the

typical Polish dishes.

After summer holidays we

are coming back to school.

Some of our friends have

just left the school, some

came for the first time. We

start everything from the

beginning like opening a

new page in the book of

our life.

At the beginning of October we gathered students together to explain them

the idea of Musical Portfolio. We have chosen students from 3rd to 6th

grades who have shown some musical talent and have been interested in

working on Musical Portfolio.

They started to fill in information about

themselves in Biography, Passport and Dos-

sier Parts. We also established days of our

meetings because some materials have to be

done at Music lessons whereas other infor-

mation has to be completed at English

classes.

GOOD LUCK!

SUMMERY OF OUR PROJECT

The Comenius project left a lot of positive effects in every one.

Our students were able to get know more about customs, habits and traditions

of the participating countries and to increase their knowledge in many aspects

of Music. They also improved their language skills as a lot of work was done

in English and they were encouraged to use it in many different ways.

Working together with our European friends allowed us to meet them person-

ally. During our visits we could find out about their customs and traditions

and to see differences and similarities in our Educational Systems especially in

Music. We also had the chance to deepen the knowledge of teaching and prac-

tice the English language.

It can be said, that we differ in many ways but, on the other hand we are similar

because music is important for us and it unites all European people.

It`s a pity that this project comes to the end, but each of us will keep in mind

wonderful moments spent together and we will try to keep in touch.
