STATEMENTI am currently studying fine arts in my hometown of
Turku, Finland, and after a few years of meddling around with
dif-ferent media at the Arts Academy, my studies have started to
focus particularly on painting, although I am fond of draw-ing as
well.
In paintings I often depict people and emotions and
psy-chological use of color is of great importance in my work.
Portrait painting is an interesting field in art, because it is
possible to begin understanding humanity through the indi-vidual.
The artist is capable of giving her spectators a space in which to
reflect their own feelings (seeing themselves in the face of a
stranger). For the moment, as an artist, I would like to examine
this humane interaction and emotion through portrait painting (not
quite an unusual ambition or setting, admittedly).
