Hobbies and interests
I have keen interest in automobiles. My hobbies include designing cars and watching car
shows.
Projects and Concepts
SAKAL Pot Maker (SPM) – sponsored by KSCST.
Concept of electromagnetic engine with power equivalence of an IC engine.
Concept to eliminate turbo lag in turbo charged engines.
SAKAL POT MAKER – It is an innovative idea to make the process of filling pots
with mud easier and economical. Pot filling is a step involved in plant nursery field.
Plant nursery serves for many agriculture fields like coffee, areca nut, fruits etc. A
coffee estate of just 3 acres requires 600 replacement plants every year. An
experienced worker can fill nearly 250 pots a day, and each labours wage is around
300 rupees. So imagine the expenditure involved for a large estate. So to solve this
problem I developed a complete plan and design of the machine, which was brought
to existence with the help of my friends. This machine works in a similar way to
manual filling, but multiple pots are filled simultaneously and hence the pots are filled
at a much faster rate. This project is sponsored by KSCST.
CONCEPT OF ELECTROMAGNETIC ENGINE: This was an idea that flashed to
me at the beginning of my engineering. We all know that one day fuel resources are
going to exhaust, and presently environmental issues are severe. To answer these
things we need to redesign the engine to make it more reliable and environmental
friendly. In this concept I have replaced the cylinder head with electromagnet and
wound the cylinder wall with copper wire. The electromagnet is used to pull the
metal piston from BDC to TDC, the other half cycle is continued by the flywheel.
This change in magnetic flux induces emf in the cylinder winding. This charges a
secondary battery which in turn runs the electromagnet. Of course this does not
produce 100% efficiency, but it increases the charge life of battery and hence more
reliable. This project could not be put to reality because there were no resources
available in the shape I required and lately in my third year I came to know that a
person got US patent for a concept very similar to mine.
CONCEPT OF TURBO LAG ELIMINATION: Turbocharger increases air input to
engine cylinder, which increases output of engine. Turbocharger lag is the delay in
power delivery when the acceleration pedal is depressed. This is due to the delay of
exhaust reaching the turbocharger. There are many ways to eliminate it one of the
methods I thought was by adopting an electric motor to the turbocharger which
charges a battery during no lag and uses the same to power turbocharger during lag
period. A similar concept is to be adopted in an upcoming model of Volvo.
MY DESIGN OF IMAGINARY CARS: I am not a trained designer. I just do it out of
dedication. I know only few proportions required for drawing but I don’t know the
way to bring the designs to reality.
