FREDERICK JOHAN ERASMUSFrederick Johan Erasmus (Frik) is gebore op 27 Desember 1964 en het gematrikuleer gedurende 1982.

Gedurende 1983 het hy Australië be-soek as ‘n uitruilstudent van die Rotary International. In 1984 het hy begin met sy studies aan die Universiteit van Pretoria en het die Grade BLC (1987) en LLB (1988) behaal.

Aan die begin van 1988 het hy begin met sy klerkskap en het dié voltooi aan die einde van 1989. In 1990 was hy toege-laat as prokureur.

Op 9 April 1991 was Frik toegelaat as advokaat van die Hooggeregshof en het hy gedurende April 1991 ‘n lid geword van die Pretoria Balie.

Vir die afgelope 10 jaar was Frik in besonder betrokke by die opleiding van pupille.

HELEN RENTIA FOURIEHelen matricu-lated in 1986 at the Pretoria High School for Girls. She enrolled at the University of Pretoria after

spending a year in Pennsylvania, USA, as a rotary exchange student. In 1990 she completed the BLC degree and in 1992 the LLB degree.

Helen was admitted as an advocate on 25 April 1995 and became a member of the Pretoria Bar on 3 July 1995.

Apart from a busy practice, Helen also served as a member of the Bar Council from 2001 to 2004 as well as from 2008 to 2010. She is also a co-author of the text-book “High Court Motion Procedure: A Practical Guide”.

LIEZL CARYL HAUPTLiezl is gebore in 1970 en het gedurende 1990 die Graad B.Com Regte aan die Universiteit van Johannesburg

verwerf. Gedurende 1991 tot 1993 het sy vir haar LLB Graad aan die Universiteit van Noordwes studeer en dié Graad cum laude behaal.

Gedurende 1994 tot 1998 het sy haar doktorale studies onderneem en is die Graad LLD dan ook aan haar toegeken gedurende September 1999.

Op 5 November 1996 is Liezl as ad-vokaat van die Hooggeregshof toegelaat en het sy in 1999 begin met haar pupil-skap by die Pretoria Balie.

Liezl spesialiseer in familie- en perso-nereg en was ook betrokke by die oplei-ding van pupille met lesings oor mosie prosedures. Sy is ook ‘n mede-outeur van die publikasies “A Practical Guide to High Court Motion Procedures” asook “Practi-cal Guidance to Civil Procedure”.

PETRUS JOHANNES VERMEULENPetrus is gebore gedurende 1971 en het gematrikuleer aan die Hoërskool Waterkloof in 1989.

Vanaf 1991 tot 1995 was hy ‘n voltydse student aan die Universiteit van Pretoria en is die Grade BLC en LLB aan hom toegeken. Op 8 Februarie 1997 was hy toegelaat as ‘n advokaat waarna hy begin het met sy pupilskap.

Op 7 Julie 1997 het hy ‘n lid geword van die Pretoria Balie en praktiseer hy sedertdien as advokaat. Petrus het ‘n stewige kommersiële praktyk opgebou en spesialiseer op die gebied van Trusts en Bestorwe Boedels, Patente en Maatskap-pyreg.

MERCEDES MAGDELINE MOKADIKOA-CHAUKEMercedes was born in 1972 and after matriculat-ing she worked as a tea attendant in order to raise

funds for her University registration. Dur-ing 1991 she enrolled at the University of the North (currently known as the Uni-versity of Limpopo) where she obtained a B.Proc degree in 1996 and the LLB degree during 1998. She was admitted as an ad-vocate of the High Court on 7 April 1998 and joined the Pretoria Society of Advo-cates during 1999. She has been an active member of the Bar ever since.

Mercedes became informally involved in the tutelage systems of pupils and jun-ior members of the Bar on an “open door policy”.

Mercedes has built up a large practice with regard to medical negligence matters which she regards as her field of expertise.

SIMON MOLATLHWE SHABAAfter matriculat-ing, Si attended various Universi-ties and obtained the following de-grees:

BA (UNIN), HED (UNIN), B.ed (UNI-SA), B.Proc (UNISA), LLB (UNISA), M.ed (RAU) and LLM (Labour Law) (RAU).

Si was admitted as an advocate of the High Court in 1991 and after serving his pupillage, became a member of the Preto-ria Bar in 2002.

After obtaining his academic qualifica-tions, Si also received various certificates with regard to Labour Law etc. It is there-fore not surprising that the expertise of Si is in the field of Labour (employment) Law.

ALLEN LIVER-SAGEAllen matriculated during 1982 and achieved the de-gree BLC at the University of Pre-toria in 1985. The LLB degree was conferred upon

him by the same University in 1987. After serving his articles Allen was admitted as an attorney in 1990 whereafter he ob-tained the LLM degree at UNISA in 1994 as well as an MBA at the University of Pretoria the same year. He was admitted as a Conveyancer in 1994 as well as a No-tary in 1998. Andrew became a member of the Pretoria Society of Advocates on 1 July 2003 and was admitted as an advocate on 1 July 2003.

Allen’s field of expertise includes Development and Planning Law, Envi-ronmental Law, Labour Law, Mineral Law and Water Law. It invariably includes Administrative Law, Constitutional Law and Municipal Law.

ZINZILE ZANDISILE MATEBESEZinzile was born during 1971 and matriculated in 1988. He obtained the degree B.Proc at the University of

Transkei during 1992 and the LLB degree in 1994.

He was admitted as an advocate of the High Court in February 2007 and joined the Pretoria Bar in February 2007.

Prior to joining the Bar he was admit-ted as an attorney and practiced as such until he requested his name to be removed from the Roll of Attorneys so as to be eligi-ble for admission as an advocate.

During his practice as an attorney and advocate he was involved in a number of cases relating to Administrative Law, Law of Contract and Labour Law.

RATHAGA PAUL ALBERT RAMAWELEAlly matriculated at Malatse Mot-sepe High School and was a jour-nalist during the early 1980’s. He

obtained the degrees B.Juris and LLB at UNISA in 1988 and 1992 respectively.

After obtaining his B.Juris degree Rathaga was employed by the Depart-ment of Justice as a Public Prosecutor until 1992. In 1995 he was admitted as an attorney until 2000. Rathaga joined the Bar in 2001 and has been a member of the Pretoria Society of Advocates since.

His practice comprises a substantial portion of Labour Law as well as Contract Law, Constitutional Law and civil work in general.

IN MEMORIAMWyle Hendrik Frederik Klein 4 Oktober 1947–31 Desember 2017John Holland-Müter

Freddie Klein, soos hy algemeen bekend was, is op 4 Oktober 1947 gebore en

is op Oujaarsaand 2017 oorlede. Nadat Freddie einde 1965 gematrikuleer het, begin hy in Januarie 1966 te werk by die Departement van Arbeid. Hy ontvang ‘n studiebeurs en studeer aan die destydse Universiteit van Potchefstroom en verwerf die B Iuris Graad aan die einde van 1968. Hy begin as staatsaanklaer by die Land-droskantoor te Germiston en skryf in deur UNISA in 1969 vir die LLB graad.

Tydens sy jare aan die PUK ontmoet hy die liefde van sy lewe, Martha Jordaan (enkel gereformeerd soos hy dit stel) en tree hulle op 20 April 1968 in die huwelik. Dit word ‘n lewenslange verbintenis en het hulle 6 kinders (3 seuns en 3 dogters). Net om die balans te handhaaf word 2 kinders advokate, 2 prokureurs en 2 IT spesialiste. Freddie en Martha is geseënd met 13 klein-kinders.

Freddie verwerf die LLB graad einde 1973 en verlaat Justisie om as ‘n regsad-viseur by Yskor te werk. Hy word as ad-

vokaat toegelaat op 16 Maart 1974 en begin sy lang verbintenis met die Pretoria Balie. Sedert 2 Mei 1975, met die uitsondering van ses jaar (1984-1989) wat hy as regsadvi-seur by Sasol, Secunda en in Johannesburg werksaam was, was hy vir 25 jaar lid van die Pretoria Balie. Hy “tree af” en prakti-seer daarna by die Kerkplein Balie tot sy ontydige afsterwe op Oujaarsaand 2017.

Benewens sy groot liefde vir sy gesin en die reg, was hy op sy dae ‘n haastige man wat vyf Comrades maratons voltooi het met ‘n beste tyd van 8 uur 10 minute. Sy beste tyd oor die standaard marathon is 2 uur 43 minute 20 sekondes en het hy destyds gedurende 1974-1975 Noord Trans-vaal in die marathon verteenwoordig.

Freddie sal deur almal wat hom geken het baie gemis word en het een van sy jarelange kollegas en vriendin sedert 1970, Regter Cynthia Pretorius, hom as een van die mees opregte en etiese persone wat sy ken, beskryf. Freddie was beslis ‘n voor-beeld van hoe ‘n advokaat te alle tye moet optree. Ek was bevoorreg om hom baie jare te ken en sy beeld in sy vier regsnavolger kinders te sien sedert hulle studente dae vanaf 1989 en daarna.

Rus in vrede vriend.
