The MSP2000 belongs to a full family of Multi-Service Processors™ designed to
meet the performance, QoS and security needs of communications equipment
used within the customer premise. The MSP2000 is an ideal solution for security
applicances and Ethernet-to-Ethernet routers. As shown below, it includes a
MIPS CPU, three 10/100 Ethernet MACs and a security engine.
The MSP2000 provides a new level of price performance for security appliances.
Because the MSP2000 eliminates the need for a separate processor, security chip
and multiple Ethernet MACs (WAN, LAN and DMZ), systems can now be built
with fewer chips and at a very affordable price point.
The MSP2000 has a unique systems architecture that provides wire speed
performance. This architecture includes a powerful MIPS CPU, a 3.2 Gbps bus
and intelligent context aware DMA engines. Together, this results in firewalling
and VPN performance previously associated with systems that cost multiple
thousands of dollars.
BRECIS helps enable fast time to market through its FastStart Kit and third party
relationships. The FastStart program includes a development board and support
for VxWorks, Linux and Nucleus operating systems. BRECIS has teamed with
security applications software companies to provide VPN and firewall software
optimized for the MSP2000.

BRECIS Communications supports industry standards and
an open architecture. Use of the MIPS processor core
ensures a wide availability of third party applications as well
as scalability of CPU performance. BRECIS offers open
APIs to drive functionality within application-specific
engines and supports popular embedded operating systems
including VxWorks, Linux, and Nucleus.
BRECIS FastStart Program
To enable easy evaluation and software development, BRECIS offers the FastStart Program. Included with your FastStart Program are evaluation boards, software, application engineering support, training, and documentation that together accelerate the product development process.
The development platform is modular and can be customized for a wide range of communication, networking and security applications.
The FastStart Program for each member of the MSP family also includes application programming interfaces (APIs), a board support package (BSP), drivers, and software. Together, they enable faster generation of code that is compact, portable, and easy to debug.
