Vortex®

Product Overview - Northern NSW and QLDVORTEX® is a unique new post-emergent herbicide providing robust control of a wide range of broadleaf weeds in wheat, barley and

triticale. Combining two powerful active ingredients, VORTEX® delivers effective and versatile management of many hard to control

broadleaf weeds.

• Contains Florasulam 6.25 g/L + 2,4-D LV Ester 300 g/L in a suspo-emulsion (SE) formulation

• Flexible application window from crop growth stage Z15-Z32

• Dual modes of action providing broad spectrum activity on weeds including Climbing Buckwheat, Wild Radish, Capeweed, Thistles,

Spiny Emex, Volunteer Canola, Lupins, Chickpeas and more

• Excellent crop safety and a short Group B residual activity period allowing flexibility in crop rotations

• Compatible with a wide range of products

• Registration expected April 2016.

Mode of Action

VORTEX® contains a member from each of the phenoxy and triazolopyrimidine sulfonanilide groups of herbicides. The product has the

disrupters of cell growth and acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor modes of action. For herbicide resistance management, VORTEX® is

a Group I + Group B herbicide.

VORTEX® has systemic activity on emerged broadleaf weeds through foliar uptake, controlling or suppressing weeds from the newly

emerged stage through to the 4-6 leaf stage. Activity is strongest on small, actively growing weeds.

Susceptible weeds stop growing almost immediately, followed by visible symptoms such as twisting/cupping of leaves, discolouration

and ultimately followed by plant death within 2-3 weeks under ideal growing conditions. Harder to kill weeds such as Climbing

Buckwheat may take up to 6 weeks to control.

Standard RecommendationsCrops: For use in Wheat, Barley and Triticale

Rates: 600 mL to 820 mL/Ha depending on target and size. Refer to the directions of use on the label for specific weed recommendations

Adjuvants: Always apply VORTEX® with Uptake Spraying Oil at 500 mL/100 L water

Harvest Withholding Period: Not required when used as directed

Grazing Withholding Period: Do not graze or cut for stock feed for 7 days after application. When using VORTEX® in a tank mix

with another product, observe whichever withholding period is longest.

Spray ApplicationApply VORTEX® using coarse spray droplets according to ASAE S572 Standard or the BCPC spray guidelines.

Ground application: Apply using an accurately calibrated ground rig in a water volume of 80-100 L/Ha

Aerial application: Apply in a water volume of 30-50 L/Ha

State use restrictions: Please refer to state chemical use legislation as some states (QLD & VIC) have declared restricted use zones

where products containing 2,4-D ester cannot be used

RADIAL® has activity across multiple stages of the disease life cycle. Highly effective Little or no effect

Product OverviewRADIAL® is a broad spectrum foliar fungicide for use in Wheat and Barley, combining market leading strobilurin and triazole active ingredients.

• Contains 75 g/L epoxiconazole and 75 g/L azoxystrobin

• Highly effective EC formulation optimised for Australian diseases and conditions

• Excellent crop safety - extensively tested on multiple varieties and situations

• Extended protectant activity

• Highly compatible with commonly used insecticides and fungicides

• Dual modes of action for resistance management.

Mode of Action

RADIAL® is a combination of members of the DMI (demethylation-inhibitors) and strobilurin (Quinone outside Inhibitors - Qols) group of fungicides and incorporates the strength of both these key fungicide groups.

The triazole active ingredient (epoxiconazole) acts to inhibit ergosterol production, an essential component of the membranes of a wide range of fungi. Epoxiconazole has a strong inhibitory effect on fungal hyphae and mycelia and has the ability to interrupt fungal growth in plant tissue.

Azoxystrobin inhibits the respiration of fungi by binding to the mitochondrial cytochrome and blocking electron transfer. When applied prior to disease infection, azoxystrobin provides excellent protection and has long residual activity. RADIAL® is a robust fungicide combination effective across multiple stages of the disease life cycle as illustrated in the below diagram.

Pyrinex® SuperProduct OverviewPYRINEX® SUPER is a unique broad spectrum insecticide providing excellent knockdown and residual control of many common insect and

mite pests of broadacre crops and pasture. Ideally suited for bare earth and early post-emergence management of hard to control species.

• Contains 400 g/L chlorpyrifos and 20 g/L of bifenthrin which combine synergistically to provide superior seedling protection

• Rapid knockdown action combined with up to 58 days residual activity

• Highly compatible EC formulation allowing one pass mite, insect and weed control

• Dual modes of action for resistance management and for managing populations of Redlegged Earth Mite already displaying

synthetic pyrethroid resistance.

Mode of Action PYRINEX® SUPER is a member of both the Group 1B and Group 3A insecticides.

The chlorpyrifos component is an anticholinesterase inhibitor, while bifenthrin is a sodium channel modulator. Both active ingredients

provide rapid knockdown activity by acting on the pest’s nervous system while the bifenthrin also provides extended residual control.

Pest SpectrumThe charts below highlight the much improved efficacy and wider spectrum of control achieved with PYRINEX® SUPER compared with either

of its individual components when used alone due to the synergistic effect of the co-formulation.

Product Overview• PROMOTE® PLUS 900 is a high load formulation of ethephon – to aid in the accelerated opening of mature bolls

and to help in defoliation of and pre-conditioning before defoliation of cotton

• Contains 900 g/L ethephon

• Helps improve harvest and increases recoverable lint yield and quality

• Convenient concentrated formulation with lower use rates and less storage and handling.

Mode of Action• PROMOTE® PLUS 900 belongs to the ethylene releasing class of plant growth regulators

• Upon metabolism by the plant ethephon is converted into ethylene, a potent regulator of plant growth and maturity

• PROMOTE® PLUS 900 moves systemically and is widely translocated around the plant.

Standard RecommendationsUse Rates

Crop Situation State Rate/Ha Critical Comments

Cotton

Defoliation, acceleration of boll opening

QLD, NSW only

1.6 L to 2.4 L in min. 20 L water

Application to be made when there are sufficient unopened bolls present to obtain the desired yield. Higher rates are used when the following conditions apply:• On Stressed plants• On a heavy crop with plenty of foliage present• If day/night temperatures are likely to drop below 22°C within 5 days

of application.

Pre-conditioning of crop before a normal defoliation is to occur

1.04 L in min. 20 L water

Application to be made when there are sufficient unopened bolls present to obtain the desired yield. The defoliant can then be applied at a time interval 4-7 days later. Ensure thorough coverage of bolls.

Defoliation# 400 mL to 800 mL

Use in a tank mix with a registered rate of ESCALATE® ULTRA/ESCALATE®. Apply when there are sufficient unopened bolls to produce the desired yield. Total application volume should be no less than 20 L/Ha. Ensure thorough and uniform coverage bolls and leaves.#This mixture will also provide some acceleration of boll opening, however a subsequent application of a boll opener may be required to complete boll opening.

Application Timing“Safe timing of defoliation is when the youngest boll expected to reach harvest is physiologically mature. This usually

occurs when 60–65% of bolls are open. Another method of assessing physiological maturity is when there are 3–4

nodes of first position bolls above the highest cracked first position boll (last harvestable boll), known as nodes above

cracked boll (NACB)”, Cotton CRC, 2013.

Do not apply before sufficient mature unopened bolls have developed to produce the desired yield of cotton. Bolls are

mature when the seed coat turns light brown, the embryo fills the seed cavity with an abundance of creamy colour and

cotyledons are well defined.
