Introduction

The emerging profession of health and wellness coaching is poised to enter

its golden era, supported by evidence-based education, validated tools, and

research – a scientific foundation for credibility and efficacy.

Wellcoaches is at the forefront as a translator, integrator, and innovator

with its Professional Coach Training & Certification program. We’ve

polished the science into a crown of coaching jewels for health and

wellness coaches. We call the crown the Onward & Upward Model.

While the Wellcoaches core coach training and certification program

provides core skills to help health professionals become competent health

and wellness coaches, this advanced 100-hour program gives coaches a

path to masterful coaching.

The Onward & Upward Model begins with the coaching relationship

enabling the self-motivated coaching client to embark upon a trajectory of

positive change that is powered by positivity, curiosity, and constructive

development, resulting in greater autonomy and self-mastery.

PROFESSIONAL (9-MONTH) HEALTH COACH AND WELLNESS COACH CERTIFICATION The emerging profession of health and wellness coaching is poised to enter its golden era, supported by evidence-based education, validated tools, and research – a scientific foundation for credibility and efficacy. Wellcoaches is at the forefront as a translator, integrator, and innovator with its Professional Coach Training & Certification program. We’ve polished the science into a crown of coaching jewels for health and wellness coaches. We call the crown the Onward & Upward Model. While the Wellcoaches core coach training and certification program provides core skills to help health professionals become competent health and wellness coaches, this advanced 100-hour program gives coaches a path to masterful coaching. The Onward & Upward Model begins with the coaching relationship enabling the self-motivated coaching client to embark upon a trajectory of positive change that is powered by positivity, curiosity, and constructive development, resulting in greater autonomy and self-mastery. The Wellcoaches designation of CPHWC requires the following:

1. Current core Wellcoaches Health and Wellness Coach certification.

2. Full participation in live teleclasses and two residential weekends. you must complete a Lesson Feedback Survey here to verify your attendance and provide us with valuable feedback.

3. Participation in eight group mentoring sessions, led by Wellcoaches faculty and

designed for coaching practice by the participants. Participants will rotate in the roles of coach and client throughout the sessions.

4. Submission of a “Coaching Mastery Journal”. You will be provided with inquires

to respond to following each residential session and each lesson. Journal entries should be in one document, rather several separate documents. The creation of a Coaching Mastery Journal is designed to broaden and deepen your learning about how the content applies to you and your coaching. There are no "right" or "wrong" answers; no place in your thinking that you "should be" or "ought to be." Guidelines for the journals are:

a. No more than 400-800 words per entry each week

10/26011 Page 9 of 13

b. Written in distinct, grammatically correct sentence form; not using run-on sentences as you might in a diary

c. Cite references, if you choose d. Insert quotes – sentences or short paragraphs, if you choose e. Include a response to each of the questions that are posed for each

lesson f. Reflect an expansion in your thinking about building coaching

relationships g. Reflect your personal journey from self-determination toward self-

mastery

5. Submission of .mp3 file (approx 45 minutes) for one coaching session demonstrating 12 of 25 behaviors and skills:

1. Appreciative Inquiry 2. Positivity 3. Curiosity 4. Mindfulness 5. Empathy 6. Strengths 7. Optimism/Hope 8. Meaning/Purpose 9. Emotional Intelligence 10. Hidden Commitment 11. Competing Commitments 12. Big Assumptions 13. Determining Tests 14. Goal Setting Theory 15. Motivation 16. Self-Efficacy 17. Self-Determination 18. Flow 19. Relational Flow 20. Non-Violent Communication 21. Motivational Interviewing 22. TTM 23. Body Intelligence 24. Metaphor/Story 25. Coach Approach vs. Expert Approach

Upon submission of the journal and coaching session audio, PCT program faculty will review the contents and provide a “Pass” or “Did Not Pass Yet” response. If you receive a “Did Not Pass Yet” response for your submissions, you may resubmit the materials for a $100 retake fee. Click here to pay the retake fee.

The Professional Health and Wellness Coach Certification process must be completed within 12 months of completing the Professional Health Coach and Wellness Coach training program. Because the program is being continually upgraded, failure to complete the certification within 12 months, will require an audit of the training program for a fee of $495 before proceeding. This does not include a requirement to attend the residential sessions. You will only be required to attend the virtual class, held via telephone bridgeline. Click here to pay the auditing fee. P R O F E S S I O N A L H E A L T H A N D W E L L N E S S C O A C H D E S I G N A T I O N Upon successful completion of the above, you will earn the ACSM-endorsed "Certified Professional Health and Wellness Coach (CPHWC)" designation. Similar to the requirements for recertification in the Core Health and Wellness Coach Training program, recertification for the Professional Health and Wellness program will be required every three years. Once you have attained the CPWC or CPHC designation, you will need to maintain only one certification through Wellcoaches.

10/26011 Page 11 of 13

RECERTIFICATION: CORE HEALTH AND WELLNESS COACH AND PROFESSIONAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS COACH The purpose of periodic recertification is to ensure and maintain a high standard of competency for Wellcoaches certified coaches beyond the initial three-year period following successful passing of Wellcoaches certification exams. W E L L C O A C H E S R E C E R T I F I C A T I O N R E Q U I R E M E N T S Recertification is due every 3 years from the end of the month in which you were initially certified. Certified professionals are extended a 30-day grace period after the expiry date to apply for recertification. To recertify, certified professionals must submit:

1. A completed Coach Recertification Application with Signed Statements of Agreement and Compliance confirming that: the required 30 hours of continuing coaching education have been met; the required 45 hours of client coaching have been reached; and proof of these requirements will be provided when necessary.

2. Verification of maintenance of prerequisites, including a current license when

applicable.

3. $75 application processing fee for Certified Health and Wellness Coach OR the $125 application processing fee for Certified Professional Health and Wellness Coach.

10/26011 Page 12 of 13

Wellcoaches typically grants a 30 day extension, upon request, after which the status of your certification would be changed to "Inactive". If you allow your Core Health and Wellness Coach Certification to expire, you will be required to pay the Core Certification Fee of $495.00 and repeat the 3-step exam process. If you allow your Professional Health and Wellness Coach Certification to expire, you will be required to pay the Professional Coach Certification Fee of $495.00 and repeat the exam process by submitting a coaching session audio for review. W E L L C O A C H E S R A N D O M A U D I T I N G P R O C E S S At the time of recertification, you are only required to submit the Wellcoaches Coach Recertification Application and verification of maintenance of your prerequisite, but you must retain all documented proof of obtained continuing coaching education credits and client coaching hours. Examples of documented proof would include certificate copies, letters of attendance with CCE verification, pre-approved course transcripts, client coaching hour logs, etc. Wellcoaches will audit a percentage of randomly selected Wellcoaches Coach Recertification Applications. This audit will be conducted annually. If audited, you will be required to provide documented proof of all continuing coaching education credits and client coaching hours to Wellcoaches within 30 days of the audit. If you are unable to provide documented proof within 30 days, your certification will be considered “inactive” and you will have one year to complete the recertification process by providing the documentation. All audited paperwork will be reviewed for validity by Wellcoaches. If all paperwork is complete, the certified professional will be notified that his/her credential is valid until the next recertification due date. If after submission, it is determined that some documentation is not valid, is incomplete, or is inapplicable, an appropriate amount of time will be allowed for the certified professional to earn continuing coaching education hours and/or complete client coaching hours.
