El pasado 30 de marzo falleció en Mallorca el Dr. Klaus Graf, fundador y propietario de Puer-to Portals, y uno de los impulso-

res más notables del turismo de calidad en las Islas Baleares. Junto a su esposa Margarita, el Dr. Graf per-cibió el inmenso potencial de Mallorca como destino turístico de primer nivel. A principios de la década de los ochenta puso en marcha la promoción y las obras de Puerto Portals, convirtiéndolo en un enclave de referencia y polo de atracción para residentes y visitan-tes de todas las nacionalidades. Un símbolo de excelencia en el Mediterráneo.El pasado año, la Cámara de Comercio de Mallorca otorgó al Dr. Graf su Medalla de Oro, en reconocimiento a su labor empre-sarial en pro de la imagen y el desarrollo económico de las islas durante las últi-mas cuatro décadas.Su visión, impulso e inmensa capacidad de trabajo nos servirán siempre de ins-piración y guía para mantener vivo su recuerdo y legado. On 30th March last, in Palma, Dr. Klaus Graf passed away. He was the founder and owner of Puerto Portals,

and one of the most remarkable driving forces behind quality tourism the Bale-aric Islands have known. With his wife Margarita, Dr. Graf per-ceived Mallorca’s huge potential as a high-end tourism destination. In the early ‘eighties he set his plan in motion and commenced the work on Puerto Por-tals, turning it into a model enclave and a magnet for residents and visitors of all nationalities. A symbol of excellence in the Mediterranean.Last year the Chamber of Commerce awarded Dr. Graf its Gold Medal in rec-ognition of his entrepreneurial work to the benefit of the island’s image and economic development over the last four decades.His vision, drive and immense capacity for work will always inspire and guide us to keep his memory and his legacy alive.We will always remember him.

Anfang der 80er Jahre begann Dr. Klaus Graf mit dem Pro-jekt Puerto Portals, unter seiner Leitung avancierte der Hafen zur noblen Adresse für Touristen und Einheimische aus dem In- und Ausland. Puerto Portals wurde im Mit-telmeerraum berühmt. Im vergangenen Jahr wurde Dr. Graf die Gold-medaille der Handelskammer Mallorca verlie-hen. Vier Jahrzehnte lang hatte sich Dr. Graf um das Image und die wirtschaftliche Ent-wicklung der Insel verdient gemacht. Seine Vision, sein Elan, und seine immense Arbeitsenergie werden uns als inspirieren-des Beispiel und Vorbild stets in lebhafter Erinnerung bleiben.Wir werden ihn immer in Erinnerung behalten.

La tradición de quedar para ver las puestas de sol en Baleares comenzó en las década de los noventa en Ibiza, en el mítico Café del Mar. En esta isla, las más hermosas tienen lugar en la Bahía de San Anto-nio, Cala Comte, Cala Bou, Cala Bassa, o Benirràs. Luego en la paradisíaca Formen-tera, los puntos estratégicos son el Puer-to de la Savina, la playa de Ses Illetes o el Faro de Cap de Barbaria. En Menorca, desde hace años, se considera indispensable disfrutar del crepúsculo desde la Cova d’en Xoroi, sobre un precioso acantilado en el sur. Pero también están en la lista los faros de Cavalleria y Punta Nati, o desde Monte Toro, el punto más alto de la isla.

Famosas son su Cartuja (en la que residió el pianista Frederic Cho-pin durante unos meses), y las tradicionales cocas de patata.Esporles, con su amplio Paseo lleno de terrazas de cafés y restaurantes, guarda una bellísima armonía, además del agrada-ble aroma a humo de las chimeneas. Sóller y su influencia francesa de siglos, atribu-yen a esta localidad un aire distinguido en sus construcciones, y sobre todo en su plaza central. Alaró es famoso por su Castillo, en el que los musulmanes se refugiaron tras la conquista cristiana del año 1229; y también por su mercado de los sábados, repleto de productos autóctonos. Pueblecitos como Banyalbufar o Este-llencs, de apenas unos centenares de habi-tantes, ofrecen unas inolvidables vistas al mar. El coqueto Fornalutx, situado en las profundidades de un valle, o Escorca y sus dos grandes embalses, Cúber y Es Gorg Blau, a las faldas del Puig Major, la montaña más alta de Mallorca (1.445 metros), son localida-des que bien merecen una visita sin prisa, en la que saborear toda su esencia ancestral.

In Esporles kann man auf der breiten Pro-menade zwischen Cafés und Restaurants flanieren und den rauchigen Duft der Kamin-feuer genießen. An den Häusern von Sóller, vor allem auf dem Marktplatz, lässt sich noch heute der einstige französische Einfluss able-sen, der das Dorf von anderen unterschei-det. Die Burg von Alaró hat das gleichnamige Dorf bekannt gemacht, hierhin flüchteten die Mauren nach der Wiedereroberung durch die Christen im Jahr 1229. Der Wochenmarkt am Samstag mit einheimischen Waren ist eben-falls beliebt. Von den Dörfchen Banyalbufar und Estel-lencs, wo nur wenige hundert Einwohner leben, bieten sich atemberaubende Ausblicke aufs Meer. Das ursprüngliche Mallorca kann man auch im hübschen, in einem Tal liegen-den Fornalutx oder in Escorça erleben, das an den beiden großen Stauseen Cúber und Es Gorg Blau am Fuße des höchsten Berges Mal-lorcas, dem Puig Major (1.445 Meter), liegt.

el Hotel Son Caliu como el Golf Son Vida han sabido aguantar el paso del tiempo con continuas reformas e inversiones, ofrecien-do a día de hoy un producto tan competitivo como el de hace 50 años.Para festejar una efeméride tan especial, el 27 de julio ambas instituciones celebran un gran torneo de golf y posterior cena de gala. El torneo, abierto a todos los participantes que lo deseen, se celebra en el Golf Son Vida, el campo más antiguo y más emblemático de Baleares. La cena de gala tendrá lugar ese mismo día por la noche en el Hotel Son Caliu, con entrega de trofeos incluida.Para los participantes del torneo, el hotel ofrece además alojamiento con uso del Spa a “precio de amigo”.

They came into being in the same year, 1964, as visions of the future during the tourism boom Mallorca was experiencing at the

time. Both the Hotel Son Caliu and Golf Son Vida have managed to withstand the pas-sage of time with continuous remodelling and investments, offering today a product that is every bit as competitive as it was 50 years ago.To celebrate this very special anniversary, on 27th July both institutions are holding a grand golf tournament followed by a gala dinner. stones for what we now know as SUP or stand up paddle surfing. Far from being a mere novelty, this sport has now become a classic on the beaches of Mallorca. Years ago professional surfers began engaging in the sport assiduously on lakes, in ports and in the sea, as part of their training. The health benefits of paddle surfing are, moreover, quite remarkable, as it strength-ens the trunk and the general physical con-dition of those who practise it. SUP is also yet another fun way of enjoy-ing everything the sea and nature have to offer us.

“Sa Calobra is the most specta-cular part of the race”1. My car was a 1965 Lotus Elan. It’s very comfortable and light to drive. And this is the only rally car you can see in the street. 2. In my everyday life I drive a Honda Civic and a Porsche. 3. It’s one of the best events in the world of this kind of rally. It attracts numerous peo-ple. For me, Sa Calobra is the most spectac-ular part of the race. 4. Puerto Portals is a place with a great deal of international success, and it has a very well-developed shopping area.

Eines der besten Events der Welt für diese Art Rallye, das viele Zuschauer anzieht. Für mich ist Sa Calobra die spektakulärste Etap-pe des Rennens. 4. Puerto Portals ist ein international renom-mierter Yachthafen mit einem ausgezeichne-ten Shoppingbereich.

ERNST HARACH (CHILE, 1951).“Puerto Portals es ideal para celebrar este evento”1. He conducido un modelo original de Mit-subishi del año 1981. En todo el mundo sólo existen cuatro o cinco como éste. 2. A diario conduzco un Seat Alhambra, un Lancia Delta Integrale y un Audi Sport. 3. Es un encuentro muy bonito para todos los pilotos y el ambiente es muy distendi-do. Todas las etapas son preciosas. Mallorca ofrece este plus gracias a la espectaculari-dad de su paisaje. 4. Este es el segundo año que participo en esta competición y Puerto Portals me parece el lugar ideal para la celebración del evento.

Alle Etappen sind wunderschön, Mallorca bietet nun Mal einfach atemberaubende Landschaften. 4. Ich nehme zum zweiten Mal an der Rallye teil und Puerto Portals scheint mir der ideale Austragungsort dafür zu sein.

NADAL GALIANA (PALMA, 1969). “Un evento excepcional de pro-moción de la isla”1. Mi coche en la prueba ha sido un Ford Escort de 1976. Es un coche muy robusto que me da muy pocos problemas y me permite derrapar sin sustos. 2. Mi coche del día a día es un Audi A6. 3. Se trata de un evento excepcional para la pro-moción internacional de Mallorca, y su organiza-ción es espléndida. La etapa de Sa Calobra es la más interesante, pero también disfruto mucho en los tramos del norte, como el de Capdepera.4. Puerto Portals es un referente como puer-to deportivo, y una base perfecta para el Oris Rally Clásico.

Ich fahre im Alltag einen Audi A6. 3. Die Rallye ist ein großartiges, internationa-les Werbe-Event für die Insel, die Organisati-on vorzüglich. Die Etappe nach Sa Calobra ist die interessanteste, aber auch die Strecke im Norden um Capdepera gefällt mir sehr.4. Puerto Portals gehört zu den besten Yacht-häfen und ist das perfekte Fahrerlager für das Oris Oldtimer-Rennen.

Entre el 30 de mayo y el 1 de junio Puerto Portals organiza la segun-da edición de Botánica Insólita, un paseo entre flores, plantas y produc-

tos ecológicos. Desde las 11 h. hasta las 21 h., el boulevard de Puerto Portals se convierte en el paraíso de los amantes de la naturaleza, donde podrán encontrar un sinfín de varieda-des autóctonas, así como plantas tropicales y exóticas, alimentos ecológicos o complemen-tos de terraza y jardín. El evento se complemen-ta con actuaciones musicales, exposiciones de bonsáis y orquídeas, charlas formativas, etc. Y para los más pequeños, talleres medioambien-tales infantiles impartidos por Magatzem Verd.

From 30th May to 1st June Puer-to Portals organises the second Botánica Insólita (Incredible Bota-ny) show, where you can stroll amidst

flowers, plants and ecological products. From 11 am to 9 pm, the boulevard of Puerto Por-tals turns into the paradise of nature lovers, where you can find countless indigenous vari-eties as well as tropical and exotic plants, eco-logical food or terrace and garden accessories. The event is complemented by musical perfor-mances, bonsai and orchid exhibitions, infor-mative talks, etc. And for youngsters there are children’s environmental workshops organised by Magatzem Verd.
