1. LATAR BELAKANG

Matlamat

Menjadi sebuah pusat rujukan serangga yang terkemuka di dunia, dan menghasilkan kajian yang berimpak tinggi.

Bidang tujahan

Aktiviti penyelidikan di CIS adalah bertumpu kepada kajian kepelbagaian, sistematik dan ekologi serangga seperti kumbang Chrysomelid dan Lampyrid (kelip-kelip), tebuan Ichneumonid dan Braconid, lalat Phorid dan Muscid, Riang-riang (Cicada), Kupu-kupu dan Rama-rama, serta serangga lain secara umum. Kajian sistematik adalah secara konvensional berdasarkan ciri-ciri morfologi luar dan genitalia. Bagaimanapun, bermula pada tahun 2002, CIS telah mula mengorak langkah menggunakan kaedah molekul dalam sistematik serangga dengan kerjasama pensyarah FST dari bidang yang berkaitan
