Question # 02Google is doing a lot for its employees, but obviously its not done
enough to retain several of its talented employees. Using what
youve learned from studying the various motivation theories,
what does this situation tell you about employee motivation?
It is very difficult to help motivate employees and to keep them
motivated. The workplace is very competitive especially for the star
performers. Even utilizing the various theories, individuals still maketheir own choices, particularly to become entrepreneurs and start their
own companies.

Esteem needs:What we believe is that getting a job inGoogle.inc is itself an accomplishment which might fulfill the
esteem need of employee.
Self actualization needs:this is the basic issue which makeemployees leave Google as their need of self actualization
flourishes within themselves and they started to feel isolated
worthless and fall short of their self realization.
Question # 03What do you think is Googles biggest challenge in keepingemployees motivated?
They have some of the best and brightest minds working for them, so it
is a challenge to keep them motivated. The American dream of owning
your own company provides stiff competition.
Setting such a high bar, Google has created a situation where it will be
difficult for the next set of benefits to outdo last years package. AsGoogle continues to grow and expand into new markets, employees may
see some of their benefits scaled down as the company becomes larger
and more profit oriented. The idea of taking benefits away from
employees is sure to be seen as a big loss and will not be welcomed.

Google make the job of money
Google is operating well and popular in people and want to expand theiroperation in more countries because in 2007 they are operating in only
20 countries with 17000 of employee in different countries of the world
and their objective is to expend in more countries. It can only be done by
motivating the employee. If the employee motivate and they work in
Google in effective manner then revenue and profit of Google increase
in order to achieve this strategy I recommend some strategy as to
motivate.
1.Motivate unique group of work2.Flexible work / job schedule3.Motivate professionals4.Motivating contingent workers5.Motivating low skilled , minimum wages6.Designing appropriate reward program
1. Motivate unique group of work:
Motivate diverse work force in Google. They operate in 20 countries.any gender, color race and nationality differences or supervision is not
accepted in employee circle and hence it is proves in the system that key
post of Google like senior vice president a chief business officer is
operated by Nikesh Arora who is Hindu and David Mond a black man

2. Flexible work / job schedule:
I recommend that Google should follow compressed work week for theiremployee like employee should stay in Google for long day in few day
of week not every day. There should be flexible working condition for
employee like employee should work 40 hours in a week as flexible to
their time especially for woman who are mother or pergament. There
should be permission by the management toward employee that
employee can share their job with their collies as per choice and
communicate with each other
3. Motivate professionals:
The job of the employee should be challenging one and their job
description should match with their profession. Google should support
their employee professionalism. Task of the employee should be
assigned according to their professional attitude. Culture to think out of
box can be implementing by professional employee.
4. Motivating contingent workers:
The management should give an opportunity to temporary employee that
they become the permanent employee of Google. There should be
training opportunity and benefits are given as same to permanent
employee. This motivates general public to become the part of Google
and work under the name of it.
5. Motivating low skilled , minimum wages:
The management of Google should give opportunity to low skilled
employee to become the part of Google friendly environment, flexible
time, benefits to low skilled employee help the Google to achieve its

objectives. The wage rate of low skilled employee should be at this level
that they can meet their basic requirement of life.
6. Designing appropriate reward program:
Open book management: I recommend that management ofGoogle should open all its information to the employee. This can
be done by the financial statement. The employee needs to be
trained to understand income statement and balance sheet.
Information about the company should be discussed at all level of
employee.
Employee recognition plan: The management of Google shouldappreciate the work of employee. Employee of Google knows that
work they done are interested and take attention of employee
toward them.
Pay for performance: I recommend that management of Googleshould pay honestly on the basis of their performance there should
be standard set to measure the performance of individual accordingto work they done . Payment can be price rates, wage incentive,
profit sharing and lumsum bonuses.
Stock option program: The management of Google should giveshare option to their employee. This act of management think
employee as they are the part of organization such as equity holder
not only employee. Share option should be given to that employee
who works according to their job description that helps to achievethe objective of the organization.
