RESUMEN / ABSTRACT
Entre los Suruwaha, pueblo indígena de la cuenca del río Purús (Amazonía occiden-
tal, Brasil), la incidencia de suicidio por envenenamiento con timbó (una especie de
barbasco de uso tradicionalmente piscicida) ha crecido de forma inédita durante las
últimas generaciones, y desafía la comprensión que de este fenómeno tienen indige-
nistas, agentes gubernamentales, misioneros y antropólogos.
Among the Suruwaha, an indigenous people in the Purús river basin (Western Amazon,
Brazil), the incidence of suicide due to poisoning with Pacara Earpod Tree (a species
of barbasco traditionally used for piscicide) has grown unprecedentedly over the
past generations, and challenges the understanding that indigenists, government
agents, missionaries and anthropologists have this phenomenon.

Aunque el plan oficial de estudios de la antigua Licenciatura en Criminología se
aprobó en 2003, existen numerosas normas que supusieron un antecedente para este
tipo de estudios, especialmente relacionadas con el ámbito penitenciario.
Although the official curriculum of the former Bachelor's Degree in Criminology was
approved in 2003, there are several rules that provided a background for this type

RESUMEN / ABSTRACT
México es la pasarela territorial entre América Latina y Estados Unidos. Se trata de
un territorio geoestratégico para el crimen organizado de ambas latitudes. Esta si-
tuación ha provocado la génesis del crimen organizado en México, hasta el punto,
que los cárteles han constituido supremacías de criminalidad que rebasan el poder
del Estado.
Mexico is the geographical gateway between Latin America and United States. It's a
territory geostrategic for organized crime from both latitudes. This situation has
led to the genesis of organized crime in Mexico, up to the current point, that the
cartels have been supremacies of criminality that went beyond the power of the
State.
