Le chevalier Tristan, gravement blessé lors d'un duel, gît en plein délire dans son château de Bretagne, attendant l'arrivée du navire qui transporte sa bien-aimée, la princesse irlandaise Isolde. Lorsqu'elle arrive enfin, Tristan meurt dans ses bras. Incapable de vivre sans lui, Isolde chante un

hymne d'amour extatique en mémoire de Tristan, puis expire à ses cótés.

Tristan, the Knight, seriously wounded in a duel, lies in a state of delirium in his castle in Brittany, awaiting the arrival by ship of his beloved, the Irish princess Isolde. When she does finally arrive, Tristan dies in her arms. Isolde sings an ecstatic hymn of love to the dead Tristan and, unable to

endure life without him, expires by his side.
