Many people are talking of the articlepublished on KROKODIL. It has come asa shock to many and I thank the REKORDfor publishing the article.But there is much more to the drug scenethan KROKODIL. The latest statisticsafforded me indicates that 1 out of every 3people are either using or experimentingwith drugs. No that is SHOCKING. The factis that if many of us look at our own familiesof four we realize that the risk is very realthat one of our family members are usingor experimenting with drugs. Many of youare now saying “Not us – none of OURfamily are on drugs”. Well here is the sadtruth – you are possibly completely wrong.I would like to look at a few aspects relatingto drug (and alcohol) abuse and I hope thatthe folk out there take this seriously.The first fact is that we THINK we knowour children but the truth is that many ofthem are taking drugs but you as parents donot know it. In the last two years the averageage of children starting to take drugs hasmoved from 17 to 14. Now here is anotherscary thought. The reason that parents donot pick this up until it is too late is thatthey do not take the time to learn more

WRONG – look at thestats and the facts that I and many othercounsellors/institutions can verify. Thesecond reason given is that they do not wantto be seen at a drug information seminarbecause people will think that they or theirfamily members have a drug problem.Wrong again. I believe that it is our duty toknow about these things so that we can notonly help our own family but also otherfamilies, friends and colleagues. There willbe a DRUG AWARENESS SEMINAR onFRIDAY 2nd AUGUST at 18h30 (starting at18h45) at the HEIDELBERG METHODISTCHURCH. Be there and bring your entirefamily – you owe it to them and to yourfriends, family and colleagues.The second point that I would like to lookat is that when people read the shockingtruth about how drugs work and the damagethey do to your body one would think thatpeople will give up immediately and/ornever ever start. Wrong again. The peerpressure and social pressure to use drugs isenormous and it is very easy to fall for the“soft talk” of a pusher – just to try it once!This trap or “fall” into drug use and abuse isvery often a result of the use of alcohol(alcohol deadens our senses and we dostupid things that we regret later).The third point is that people think that theyare in control and can leave the drugwhenever they need. Well they can’t. the fact

is that the drug dealers are getting cleverand are spiking the drugs with other drugsto get the person hooked – and they are notaware of this. I have recently worked withsomeone who has only been taking daggabut when they came off of the drug theirwithdrawal symptoms were the same asheroin withdrawals. On further investigationit was found that the dagga was spikes withheroin.The best advice I can give anyone is this:NEVER START.Want to know more about the dangers ofdrugs, what other elements go with drugsand how to identify a person using drugs joinus at our DRUG AWARENESS SEMINARon FRIDAY 2nd AUGUST at 18h30 (startingat 18h45) at the HEIDELBERGMETHODIST CHURCH (it is free).

bindende kontrak tussen u en u versekeringsmaatskappy. In die kontrak onderneem die

versekeringsmaatskappy om u skadeloos te stel indien daar ‘n skielike, onbeplande gebeurtenis

plaasvind. Soos met enige ander kontrak is daar voorwaardes en bepalings.

KEN U KONTRAK: U versekeringsmaatskappy moet, volgens wet, vir u, na aanvang van u polis, ‘n

kontrak stuur. Die wet bepaal dat dit u plig is om die inhoud daarvan te verken. Maar wie, in

vandag se dae, het tyd om deur ‘n dik dokument te lees? As dít die geval by u is, kry ‘n makelaar

en maak ‘n afspraak sodat u makelaar u die voorwaardes en bepalings kan verduidelik en uitlig.

Dit sal nie langer as ‘n uur van u tyd in beslag neem nie en sodoende kan u gerus wees dat u

versekering in plek is.

BYBETALINGS: Maak seker u weet wat u bybetalings is. Moenie dat u verras word met ‘n

onverwagte bybetaling wanneer u u voertuig na herstelwerk by die duikklopper wil gaan haal

nie. Kyk in watter gevalle u bybetaling meer of minder gaan wees. Daar is ook opsies in plek waar

u u bybetalings kan laat wegval deur ‘n hoër premie te betaal. Dan koop u u bybetaling af en u sal

geen bybetalings hê indien u skade ly nie.

VERANDERINGS: Indien daar enige veranderings in persoonlike omstandighede is bv.

adresverandering, gereelde bestuurder van u voertuig, foutiewe alarm, ensovoorts, moet u dit

onmiddellik aan u versekeringsmaatskappy verklaar. Hulle sal dan op hulle beurt die voorwaardes

aanpas en/of jou inlig wat om te doen sodat jy nie in die geval van ‘n eis benadeel sal word nie.

ADVIES: Versekeringsadvies is gratis. Kontak ‘n hulpvaardige makelaar en win soveel advies as

moontlik in. Neem net kennis dat indien u van ‘n direkte versekeraar gebruik maak, advies

moeiliker bekombaar is. U sal moontlik die maatskappy se inbelsentrum moet skakel vir advies.

U vrae sal ook so gerig moet wees dat dit die nodige advies uitlok aangesien hulle u net met u

navraag sal help deur net feitlike inligting te gee.

OMBUDSMAN: Die Ombudsman vir kortermynversekering is ‘n gratis hulpmiddel wat u tot u

beskikking het indien u voel ‘n eis het nie volgens kontrak verloop nie. U kan u saak aan die

Ombudsman rapporteer en die saak sal van daar af verder hanteer word. Die Ombudsman is dus

die waghond vir die publiek en beskerm u teen onbillike optrede van versekeraars.

Besonderhede van die Ombudsman is ook in u kontrak beskikbaar.

Please be on the lookout when anyone enters your shop, astwo men were browsing at shoes by the Indian Plaza at FirstAvenue Fashion on 31 May.They were asking for 2 different sizes, as these shoes are quiteexpensive. Fatima, one of the owners, whom assisted the two menwent to the back to get the different sizes, and when she had handedit over to try on, the men grabbed the shoes and run off. Fatimastarted running after them while screaming “stop those guys.”Mohammed Moolo from sound square at one of the shops by theIndian Plaza, heard the commotion and was soon on their tracks.While running away, one of the thieves decided to let go of theshoes and just threw them on the ground. At the back side whereSolly’s car sales is, an owner from another shop behind, helpedMohammed to catch them, but one of them escaped. They handcuffedthe thief and called the police. Every now and again there is chancers,but at the Indian Plaza they stand together. Mohammed Moolo,man of the hour.

Poisoning of dogs never cease. During burglaries androbberies dogs are poisoned to death.On Tuesday, May 28 three pig dogs were poisoned during the earlyhours of the morning in Nigel in a quiet area. While robbing a housethe robbers were disturbed when a light switch turned on and theyvanished from the scene without taking anything. Three months agothe neighbours dogs were poisoned. The main reason why dogs getpoisoned is because burglars are anxious to steal car mags and tyres.We have no idea what terrible suffering our dogs has to go through,when poisoned. In an effort to gather statistics, victims arerequested to inform the Nigel SPCA.

Met nadere ondersoek het die eienaar van dievoertuig ‘n man by die hek aangetref, wat hom met ‘n vuurwapengedreig het. Die verdagte het die voertuig eienaar beveel om op diegrong te gaan lê. Hy het die motor sleutels van die eienaar afgeneemen in die motor gespring en daarmee weggejaag. Met ter pers gaandeis die voertuig nog nie gevind nie.

Poisoning of dogs

Although bees have now disappeared for the winter months,they will be back and last summer many residents had problemsin their gardens.In Dunnottar bees hovered around a water meter for months andcomplaints went unheard. The pavement could not be mowed as thebees went on attack. But eventually the police contacted the rightdepartment, the Ekurhuleni Pest Control Unit and members cameto the property immediately. It took only minutes to get rid of morethan 3 000 bees in the water meter. Next summer, it is well toremember that the Metro does have experts in all aspects of pestcontrol on residential properties including ants.

As we grow in rela-tionship withHim, we increase in the knowledge of Hiswill and our desires align with His purposesand plans. More than anything, God’s heartis for others.When we increase in relationship with Him,our hearts become just like His. This will result in an increaseto most property owners. The residentialrevote of 150 000 will remain unchanged.For Electricity, a decrease of 7.69% and8.5% increase for water for the residents and

In graad 7 wen hydie 200 meter hekkies tydens die SA’s.Juffrou Kock sy laerskool afrigter het altydhom geinspireer met die woorde “expect theunexpected.” Hierdie selfde slagspreukgebruik Julian steeds vandag met dieafrigting van sy eie atlete.Hy het reeds 9 keer aan die SA’s deelgeneemen 5 oorwinnings in verskeie items behaal.Sy gunsteling gewoonte voor elke wedstrydis die eet van sjokolade en ‘n yslike blikcoke. Tydens sy skool loopbaan het hy meeras 150 medaljes verower. Een van sy grootoomblike tydens sy matriek jaar was toe hyvoor 8000 toeskouers, die 400 meterhekkies gehardloop het.
