China at the Olympics:China has participated in all Olympic Games since 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Additionally, Beijing has successfully hosted 2008 Summer Olympic Games. So far Chinese athletes have won 201 medals, ranked No. 1 in Asia and No. 5 worldwide. Specifically in Beijing 2008, athletes from China won 51 gold medals, the most of any nation at these Olympics, becoming the first nation other than the United States and Russia (Soviet Union) to lead in medals since 1936. Rio 2016 will be the 10th time that China participates in the Olympics.
Introduction
Background:The 2016 Summer Olympics are the thirty-first Summer Olympic Games, the world's largest international multi-sport event that is held every four years. It is also commonly known as Rio 2016, as this competition will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The games will take place from 5 August to 21 August 2016. Rio will become the first South American city to ever host the Summer Olympics. 205 National Olympic Committees will take part in this sporting event.
