1. HSBC global internet banking redesign

The brief

§  Pick up UX design work where the previous agency left off.

§  Own the experience and enforce standards.

§  Translate business requirements into detailed UX documents.

What I did

§  Lead the design team.

§  Provided UX consultancy during requirement-gathering.

§  Co-ordinated usability testing programme with specialist agenices.

§  Owned site map and navigation scheme.

Key tools and deliverables

§  Axure for interactive prototypes.

§  PowerPoint for UX deliverables, which included annotated wireframes and user journeys.

§  Formal user testing in lab environments across multiple continents.

Results

§  Fixed major legacy usability issues through iterative testing and design solutions.

§  Protected the user experience through many technical, resourcing and stakeholder challenges to ensure an excellent product went live.

2. Innovation project aimed at assisting home-movers

The brief

§  Dust off an abandoned concept from 2013 and see if it has merit.

§  Come up with a brand-building service that positions the client as a trusted mortgage lender.

What I did

§  Pitched a new idea back to the client, securing budget.

§  Commissioned research to validate concept.

§  Lead UX and acted as product owner within a team of designers and developers.

Key tools and deliverables

§  User interviews and usability testing.

§  Minimum viable product, created by developers in Agile environment from sketches, Axure prototype and high-fidelity designs.

Results

§  The product is still under-wraps, but has gained a lot of traction within the client’s business, acting as an innovation showcase.

§  Budget secured for full UK rollout.

3. Oxfordshire County Council public website relaunch

The brief

§  Reverse trend of falling customer satisfaction.

What I did

§  Wrote strategy and gained funding.

§  Ensured project followed an iterative design process.

§  Lead on all UX aspects.

§  Presented results to senior managers.

§  Quantitative and qualitative feedback analysis.

4. Oxfordshire County Council intranet staff directory

The brief

§  “Do what you did with the public website.”

§  Enable people to find “Bob from accounts”.

§  Don’t leave a dead-end if Bob from accounts isn’t in.

What I did

§  Used wireframes to gain senior buy-in.

§  Steered project away from inferior ‘out of the box’ solution.

§  Last-minute redesign to accommodate software change

§  User interviews.

§  Functional specification.

§  High-fidelity wireframes.

§  Beta feedback gathering and analysis to inform further improvements.

Results

§  Feedback: "much easier to search and navigate”.

§  Employee data now stored in a single place.
